It still has the pool, highly revised and modernized, into a wonderful facility. The place is oozing with charm and quirks. Like white brick window sills that slope about 20 degrees making them totally useless for bathroom shelves and doors so heavy they are clearly designed to withstand Category 5 hurricanes (though I didn't think Berlin was subject to tropical cyclones). Our room was an eclectic mix of old and new with a very firm and comfy bed. Standard European no top sheet, just the duvet for covers. Our room had no A/C, but cooling was fine from opening windows. Breakfast at the hotel was standard fare, but tasty with excellent service. Also loved the quaint bar making some excellent cocktails and serving fine beer. However, service there was occasionally slow as servers exited for smoking breaks. Walls and floors are concrete with marble and very thick, so rooms tend to echo quite a bit, but we never heard any neighbors and quiet sleep was no problem. Basically, this is my kind of hotel - charming, a little odd, fun staff. Highly recommended in Berlin.
