Cannot recommend this contractor. I paid a premium price and did not get premium workmanship…read more I needed a stainless steel chimney liner for my new hot water tank, I preferred stainless for longevity and was willing to pay more. Talked to owner, quoted almost $2K, I approved quote, he started out nice, returned calls, followed through, he even sounded concerned about making sure I was happy until the morning of install when he called and I asked that he tapcon (screw) the top plate to the chimney crown that the manufacture in their manual shows as optional. He stated that this is not the way to mount it, he said silicone alone is better and said he has been doing this for 18 years, finally he agreed grudgingly and hung up on me. The crew showed up, was pleasant, but disappointingly the top of chimney should have been mortared with a crown covering the top plate and the top plate had 1/2" gap on each side of the plate because they hammered out the chimney liner flue instead of cutting it out as we agreed. Also, the company should have pre-measuring before ordering parts to guarantee it fits properly. End result, I requested they mortar the crown and offered to pay more but they refused. They said it was too cold although it was almost 60 degrees in November and night lows was above freezing. Instead I'm left with no crown until next year (see pic). Will hire another contractor to finish the job correctly.
