You'll need to be a registered member of Birmingham Libraries first, but once you are, the staff can set you up with access details and then it's as easy as 1,2,3. Be warned - there are time limits to your browsing, but if you just want to check your emails or do a little bit of research then this is perfect. Situated by a huge car park, the convenience is second to none. It's also perfectly accessible from Four Oaks train station. The library also houses an impressive selection of books, audio-books and DVDs to hire. There are also plenty of chairs dotted round in case you just can't wait to start reading your book before you get it home. They also have a small section of books for sale for those reads that are just too good to give back!

In recent times the library has been modernised with self service machines and fewer staff and in my opinion this is not a progressive move for the library. The few staff that are left spend their time chatting to each other without regard for library users and no longer give the impression that they are there to help. The books are not returned to the shelves correctly and often the alphabet restarts some way along which is annoying. The self service machines are shut down early so that staff go home on time and yesterday when my husband and I visited the library we were told that we couldn't access the adult area as they were preparing it for redecoration. I feel that again this could have been done outside library hours and not in library user time. On the whole Cannock library no longer gives a personal service to its users and is not welcoming.

This is a small library, but it has recently been completely rebuilt so it is very modern and…read morefresh-looking. Although it is a public library, it is actually situated on a school premises. There is a great little children's area, complete with outside patio. The library runs a couple of regular events for pre-school children - Baby Bounce and Rhyme, and storytime, which are very popular. Staff are friendly and always helpful.
