South Texas fencing installed my parent's chain-link fence five years ago. Sherrel tried to give me some lame excuse about how he wasn't there when my fence was installed, and that the contract says it is the property owner's responsibility to tell them where the property lines are located. I called Civil Corp. and they informed me that they had surveyed all these properties out here back in 2007. Therefore, the markers were there when they installed my fence. Also, since he didn't work there, how does he know the correct property lines were not given? They charged my parents $4800 to move the fence to the correct property line. Personally, I feel they shouldn't have paid for any of it. They did offer to split the cost with the company but the owner refused and only dropped the price from $5200 to $4800. Many people suggested I take them to smalls claim court, but my parents did not want to deal with that. I think it is despicable that this company would take advantage of an elderly couple in that manner.

My stated goal to them was to minimize bugs getting in. The storm doors have been a problem from day one. The rear door doesn't open from the outside without a fight most of the time and does not close correctly. The front door doesn't close properly either. Both doors have significant gaps at the top and they do not appear to fit the door frame. I have contacted South Texas 5 times concerning the issues with the doors to no avail. The one time a South Texas employee came out to look at them, he acknowledged the problem but said he would talk to Phillip. Since then, all I've heard were "crickets". I have had another contractor out to look at the doors but, since South Texas supposedly has a 5 year warranty (per Phillip John's at South Texas), I believe it is their responsibility to resolve the issues.

Work started in June 25, as of 13 Sept got lawyer involved. After initial post he reached out for explanation which was approved and he didn't contact when he said. I was told he has issues with multiple businesses and some folks have reached out to complain directly to me. Now with continuing work we are finding tons of mistakes and having to hire folks to fix it.

What started in May 2025 as a routine construction project quickly turned into a six-month nightmare that devastated our home and peace of mind. As of October 16, 2025, our front, side, and backyard still look like an abandoned construction site. Ryan collected the majority of the payment upfront, yet completed less than 15% of the work. He never secured the necessary permits, ignored basic timelines, offered excuse after excuse when asked for updates and admitted to avoiding our phone calls. What's worse, Ryan admitted to using our money for other projects and advertising -- in his own words, he "borrowed from Peter to pay Paul." This kind of financial mismanagement is unacceptable and incredibly unethical. When we asked for a plan to finish the job, he told us he couldn't make one because he had no money and no upcoming work. His solution? He asked us for even more money and said we could take a lien against his house in New Braunfels, TX. We seriously doubt his family is aware their home is being offered as collateral. Since then, we've been contacted by other customers and subcontractors he owes money to -- clearly, this isn't an isolated case. Ryan presents himself as a Christian and a trustworthy businessman, but our experience was the complete opposite. He is, quite frankly, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He lacks honesty, professionalism, and any sense of accountability. Do yourself a favor: do a thorough background check before hiring him. We wish we had. These changes significantly altered the scope of the work. When we asked for clarification or alternative solutions, the situation did not move toward resolution. Instead, communication escalated to default notices and demands rather than scheduling or moving the project forward. For the Memorial location, there were no additional installation requirements; however, we were repeatedly told the project was "on track," yet no installation date was ever provided. This led to delays and unnecessary escalation. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this company make sure all installation requirements, scope details, and conditions are clearly spelled out in writing before signing a contract, and that the agreement clearly addresses remedies such as refunds or other protections if performance is delayed or not completed as agreed.

He was to close off some doors and create others, to insulate and sheet rock the walls, etc. By the time we terminated the relationship on February 14, 2020, Mr. Glover had not completed any of the doorways. The one new door opening he created from the house to the back yard was left with a door without a doorknob, thus leaving our home unsecured, for over a week. The door doesn't line up with the flooring that he laid out for us. He installed insulation that doesn't meet city codes and covered it with drywall, causing us to have to re-demo the space and waste thousands in materials and labor. During the time Mr. Glover worked for us, I had to tell him repeatedly what we wanted, and even resorted to taping notes to the walls so he couldn't forget. We now have a court case pending to recoup the nearly $22k we paid him for absolutely nothing. Please do not hire 2J's construction or Jim Glover!
