I was looking for a very knowledgeable Tai chi instructor. One of my friends and I went to visit US Kuoshu Academy just to see what it was like. I was impressed with the friendly, encouraging, and knowledgeable instructor who greeted me when we walked in. The school has two workout rooms. A padded floor on one, and carpet over pad in the other. Reasonably spacious, and well kept, though the pads do show the wear and tear of long hours of hard workouts. Most students who come in take group lessons in Tien Shan Pai kung fu, Tai Chi Chuan, or Hsing-yi. Private lessons are also offered with Grandmaster Huang Chien-Liang. The primarily volunteer instructor staff who teach the group lessons are knowledgeable and friendly, and clearly show their love and enthusiasm for the subject they teach. I ended up choosing to take the kung fu group lessons, and have been very happy. I am in better shape than I was just out of college, and am a member of a welcoming and supportive community of martial artists.

I came across Muay Thai Kickboxing because I lose weight in a way that would be lively and enjoyable. Ever since starting Mauy Thai at Crazy 88 I've noticed in my daily life that I've been way more happy and my weight loss journey was progressing very well. (I'm 60 pounds down!) Training at Crazy 88 soon became my way of distressing after a long day. Training at Crazy 88 is definitely not what I expected. Before coming to this gym I expected it to be gym filled with a bunch of tetestorone in the air and men trying to out compete each other, but I was very wrong. Instead I was greeted warmly at the door into a welcoming environment that didn't make me want to run back out the door in which I just entered. Training at Crazy 88 is very diverse and you're able to move at a pace in which your comfortable with, all with the help of amazing coaches! Considering that I've been at Crazy 88 for awhile now I see myself in the near future training in their Brazilian jujitsu classes. Advice for new students: Whether you are coming for self defense, weight loss, competition, or just fun make sure you express that with your coach. They will certainly have you covered in any of your goals.

I decided to try this place out after making a promise to my grandad that I would get more active…read more I signed up for the trial class. You have to buy hand wraps for the class (mandatory, can't box without them), $10. They show you the punches before the class starts so you are not a total fish out of water. The classes have all different levels of skill and physicality so you can move at your own pace and not feel like you need to compete with the person next to you. As I write this review I have just completed my first month of class. I love it!!!!! I go on Saturdays, first thing in the morning. Jerome is the Saturday instructor and he is awesome. He pushes and gets in your face but he's such a motivator and makes sure that you are getting it. His classes can be intense but you feel the reward. I gotta mention Tina too. She is just this super awesome ball of energy. She has walked me through so many things. She's always ready to help and never makes you feel like "Geesh you don't have it yet!!" She is also a great motivator. These positive folks are why I look forward to waking up early on a Saturday. Power Punch!!!
