We've been to this store twice to make purchases and both times we had to endure terrible customer service from one particular employee. A kind manager stepped in to resolve our situation. As the manager helped us, the employee went to the next register to ring someone else - and we could hear her being difficult with those customers, too!

So, we decided to check out the New Balance store in the Smith Haven Mall shadow at the corner of Route 347 and Alexander Drive.    When it came to New Balance there seemed to be a non balance of price categories. In my opinion, all of their sneakers were expensive and overpriced. The only employee in this relatively small store, said that they sell better sneakers than the model that I had photographed in Kohl's. That is not true because the pairs I have brought from retail chains such as Kohl's have bestowed me with long-time use and compliments. Generally speaking the only employee was willing to help. Now if he would of mentioned that they had the digital foot measure device that some other reviewers had mentioned, it would of been beneficial to the point that I might of upped my rating. Nonetheless, before leaving I knew that there was a better balance of New Balance deals and selection waiting for me at the Riverhead Tanger Outlets New Balance Store.

I returned to the store an hour and a half later and said I needed to return because nothing looked good. I returned so quickly because I was going away the next day and did not want to worry about returning something when I returned. The girl said "WE ONLY GIVE STORE CREDIT" I was completely unaware of this policy as the young girl behind the desk never told me or said, try it on because we do not accept returns. I never returned anything there and asked if she could please call her boss since it was only an hour or so before when I purchased it. My total was almost $600.00 so I did not feel like a store credit. I waited for the owner to reply for over a half hour while I was just standing in the store. Finally, another manager called the store and said no that is our policy we can not give her money back. I called the Southampton store to ask for the manager they took my name and number. Long story short no one called me ever. I winded up exchanging it for something smaller in price and have a gift card for the difference. NO ONE EVER TOLD ME there was a small sign I noticed when I was bringing it back, but it was NOT NEAR THE REGISTER and it was probably the size of a postcard. I am so disgusted with this place, it is really bad PR to act like you can care less when so many businesses go out of business these days. OH, AND FYI you can find all the line labels, and if you go straight to the website you usually get a coupon of up to 20% off for signing up to the website. I find it completely odd that an owner would not want to make sure a customer is happy. I was never told this honestly. If I had known this I would have a least tried on in the store before I lost $600.00. Anna provided great gift packaging and organized the receipts and gift certificate, and did a perfect job helping us out. Anna was also very friendly and made the shopping experience better for us.
