They did have a charge associated with having the architect come out that was very small. I can't remember what it was, but it will be baked into the ultimate project payments. Did I shop around? Well... no. These guys have done a lot of work on my house. They have amazing integrity, good pricing from my past shopping around, I can trust them with my dogs and we are mimicking the amazing front porch design they created for me so it just makes sense to stay with a company I trust. I was very impressed with how their payment plan was structured - it made me confident that the job would get done. There were a few things i asked for a change on and they completed the change without too much fuss. Overall good experience with the company. He was priced in the same ballpark as other quotes, but his timeline worked better with ours. I should've canceled the job when he didn't respond until day of with a time for our walk through, but I was understanding of the busy work of contractors. The entire experience was filled with poor communication and planning. Every evening, I'd walk through the house with my fiancé and note places that were "finished" but needed additional attention, ex: paint drips, missed nails, face plates that weren't replaced. The team also showed poor preparedness. We booked almost a month out, but they didn't try to schedule an electrician to do our light work until he started, which resulted in the work not being complete. He said he'd get back to us in a few weeks to schedule that work, but it's now been 2 weeks and my email asking about it went unanswered for almost a week. He said he gave my name to his electrician who should schedule soon, but that was 5 days ago. We received the initial estimate over 2 months and painting finished almost a month ago so it's fairly reasonable to expect this to have been taken care of. Overall this was a very disappointing experience that lacked in professionalism. The saving grace of the experience was the foreman on Dean's team who was very customer-focused and spent a lot of time with me on the last day looking through the finer details and promising that they'd fix their mistakes. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, there were still details that were missed. And I still have a ceiling fan to return.

We recently moved into a new construction home on an acre that's about half woods. Working in the…read moreback yard, we spotted poison ivy all over the yard and some huge poison ivy vines running up a tree. I got quotes from Oakland County Restorations and another company that only does poison ivy removal. On the phone and in person, Dean seemed far more concerned about doing it right - killing the poison ivy and removing it from the root so there's nothing for us, our dogs or our grandkids to run through. The other company told me they would kill it and eventually it would fall out of the trees. Oakland County Restorations said they would kill it and remove as much of it as possible. Becky showed up to start the work and she is clearly an expert on poison ivy. We had seen a lot, yet she found a ton more than we expected. She found it even when it was hidden by other brush, sprayed it, marked it and brought back a team the next day to remove it all. Worth every penny to make sure our granddaughters and our dogs can play in the yard!

Then when it came time to do the work, he cancelled twice. Then as the work finally began, he said the job would cost an extra $100. Fine. Then a few days later, he requested yet another $100. In the end he completed the job adequately, but left the house a complete mess. Dust is on every surface and he made no effort to clean up. Overall this wasn't the best experience and would recommend you find a more professional contractor.
