I was looking for someone that knew what they were doing to rebuild my 92' softtail. That was August of 2007. He came highly recommended from a guy that raced "SUPER STREET " class and Earl built his race bike. My bike had Delkron cases, S&S Sidewinder kit,Branch heads, Thunder header, One off cam, blau, blau,blau,blau, blau. Anyway, my bike was fast. So, when Earl asked me "What do you want ? I told him I wanted a stroker, big bore motor, something even faster than I have now. Earl told me he could probably get 120 or more h.p., and around 120 foot pounds of torque out of my 92 or so cubic inch motor, now that I was looking forward to seeing. Well, I said, I want the fastest m.f. in the valley, and I laughed. He said, "OK". He reworked my $1200.00 dollar "BRANCH HEADS", even thought I didn't need to have them done, after all they were B heads. This is 2020, All I have done is change the oil, put fresh plugs in it every so often, and ride the bike like I stole it. I am a little tough on my stuff, if it's supposed to be fast. BURLEY PERFORMANCE - My '92 softtail, done up by "BURLEY PERFORMANCE " - Motorcycle Dealers Near Me - Ridgecrest, California

I'm late in writing this review, but better late than never when it comes to posting some nice words about Mr. Burley. Back in early 2018, myself and two other buddies took a ride to Death Valley on our Harleys from Sacramento, Ca. At the time I owned a Road King and the ride was uneventful until we stopped in the middle of Death Valley for a short break. That's when I discovered an oil leak underneath my bike. I tracked it down to under the case and since we were in the middle of nowhere with no cell service, we decided to push on. Fortunately, it was our last day in the park and aside from that, the riding experience was awesome and Death Valley was a mind blower, especially if you are into geology. However, the leak was a major cause of concern, so on our way back we stopped more frequently to check on the bike's status. It continued to leak and spread oil onto the rear wheel and belt, but not enough to get on the rear tire. We made our way to Ridgecrest, Ca. and figured maybe we could find an open Harley repair shop to at least get an opinion on my chances of making it back without blowing up the engine. As luck would have it, I called Burley Performance and Mr. Burley (Earl) picked up and as soon as I told him what was going on, he gave me directions to his shop. Earl came out to my bike and got underneath it, put his hand in the oil and stated it was the chain case gasket, I think that's what the part was if memory serves me. He went on to detail the history of the Harley gasket, the part number and when a part number change was made and some confusion ensued because of it. If one gasket part wasn't installed correctly, there was a good chance the seal wouldn't hold. At the time I owned the bike for about 8 years and this was the third gasket to blow. The good news was when I asked Earl if I could make it back to Sacramento and he said based on the amount of oil it was throwing, which apparently wasn't a lot, he was confident I could get back with no problem. I asked him how much I owed him and he declined any payment, looking back now, I feel like an idiot for not at least giving him a 20 spot for his time and unselfish service. I guess I was so relieved at the news I forgot my manners. What a good guy he was, what more can I say? As Earl predicted, I cruised all the way back home safely, but I learned the Road King is not a long touring bike and because of the multiple gasket failures, I lost confidence in it and sold the bike soon afterwards. Another rider on the trip came to the same conclusion about his Softail and he also sold his bike. read more

Earl is a well known wizard when it comes to porting & flowing Harley heads and doing any related valve work. He's done the heads on my 80 inch '92 Softail Custom twice. He split my bottom cases to replace my entire crank after the 1" dia. crankpin snapped in half while I was puttin' south on 395 out of Ridgecrest. A few years later some cylinder studs pulled out of the stock cases on the right side at the weakest location where the lifter blocks face each other. I took the engine back to him and he replaced both engine cases with S&S cases. Quality work at reasonable prices! My bike will be 25 years old in May of 2017 and thanks to Earl Burley at Burley Performance she still runs like a raped ape! read more

I had my 2007 Harley Nightster towed to Burley Performance recently because of start-up issues that I was having trouble figuring out after I put a lot of my own work into it in my garage. Earl took a look at my bike right away, put a fuel line pressure tester on it, and had it started up within 5 minutes of arriving at his shop, the tow truck driver was still there at that time! I drove my other vehicle to his shop, and so was unable to drive the bike home once he got it running, so Earl actually personally followed me across town to my house so I could drop my car off and grab a helmet, and then drove me back to his shop in his car so I could get my bike. This was all at around 4-5pm by the way. I cannot say enough about Earl's professionalism and willingness to go out of his way for a customer, it's refreshing in today's world of corporate bottom-line and lack of personalization with customers. On top of everything else, Earl is an extremely skilled mechanic and just a genuinely nice guy. I cannot recommend Burley Performance highly enough! read more
