Repeater... the grounds on the UVA Campus are amazing…read more Walking around the grounds, I was impressed at how clean, how natural, and how tranquil the fields were. I was certainly thinking of hyping this campus to my freshman niece. While I was there for a course I took notice of how folks congregated on the lawn, and the various lawn chairs, but the grounds provided both open and covered areas for study and social gatherings. The Rotunda itself is a beautiful centerpiece surrounded by pillars and paths floored by brick. Gardens everywhere. There's a small statue dedicated to the first president of the United States. It is centrally located, with academic buildings on one side, and mix of commercial buildings (food, snacks, banks, bookstores, UVA gear... ), it's all there. If you're a student you have quick access to everything. It's very convenient. Very impressed.

The play-based curriculum is just what he needs and the hands-on aspect of a co-op gives us insight into every aspect of his day. We love the focus on music, art and books and that the kids play outside daily, rain or shine. Miles LIVES for Heather and Pam, telling us daily that they are his favorite part of school - high praise, considering his love of play dough! :)

A friend told me about her incredible experience with this particular school and it sparked my interest. After touring the school I just had to apply. I love that it is a play-based curriculum and really focuses on social aspects that kids need to learn. My daughter raves about the two amazing teachers and is genuinely sad when it's not a school day. We love that they incorporate arts, music, and reading into each day. The outdoor play area is full of opportunities for different play scenarios and they go outside no matter what the weather is. I also love that I get to be a part of the school by holding my own job as well as being a "helper" once a month. It makes it feel like you become part of a family. Champion Tutoring made a huge difference in our daughter's life! When she was in 7th grade she…read morebegan struggling with poor performance on tests. She would study hard, feel like she knew the material, feel good after the test and then get a failing grade. This happened over and over and was really taking a toll on her self confidence. We worked with her and her teachers worked with her but yet despite good classwork and homework grades she still could not seem to master passing the tests. In desperation we began researching local tutoring places. Many seemed to offer group sessions or lots of work on a computer with an instructor overseeing the students. When we talked with Champion Tutoring we were extremely impressed with their one-on-one approach. They asked so many questions, many that we'd never even considered, in order to customize the tutoring for our daughter. Once Meghan began her sessions we saw an almost immediate improvement. They worked with her on study skills, test taking strategies and also did some work within her different subject areas. She went from routinely getting F's with a few D's sprinkled in to getting B's with a few A's mixed in! We were thrilled and so was she! Even better, they equipped Meghan with the strategies she eventually needed to succeed on her own. She saw them for less than a full school year and the results carried with her long term! Champion Tutoring changed our child's life and we could not be more grateful. If you're looking for a place where your child is looked at as an individual, where their strengths, weaknesses, learning style and personality are all taken into account, then Champion Tutoring is the place for you. This is by far the worst daycare I have ever placed my child in. Things happened to my child there…read morewhere kept in the dark until a couple of the providers finally began to tell me. They also are terrible at cleaning up the kids...my child was always filthy when I came to pick my child up with snot all over his face and his clothes stained as well as mulch piled up in his diaper. My child would have so many bite marks on the body that no one even told me about it. Teachers would smack the kids and even though they got caught by parents they were never fired. I am telling you that this place may seem all nice and that the teachers are all caring until you have placed your child in there and that is when you really notice!
