The Burgschänke is an old German name for a kneipe or otherwise commonly known as a pub. It's located in a 700 year old barn and it's quite small. They can fit about 50 people in the bar and there is some outdoor seating with view of the beautiful castle next door and some nice manicured gardens.
I was taken here by a colleague who knows the owners of this pub as well as the owners of the castle. The atmosphere here is fabulous and unless you knew this place existed you would probably not find it. Don't expect any English as your chances of finding this is pretty slim.
They have a huge screen set up and showing the World Cup games and it was packed with locals tonight for the Germany game. They serve mostly beer and wine and some schnapps. The food menu is small and it's mostly things like cheeses, cold meats, breads and so on.
I would love to come back here again and soak in the beautiful surroundings and the atmosphere. read more
