X is the new kid on the burger scene.. and I have to say I'm a fan. Ordered the the Big D... The…read moreslaw used was a mix of Asian Thai fusion and the pulled meat (pork n beef brisket) was done to perfection. Topped off with a light brioche bun... amazing! If ur wanting something a bit different.. This is the one. The Big D burger is a standout ... The combination of infused slaw with pulled meat works! and is definitely "that" taste journey I will return for! Also tried their KFC as well.. bit salty for my liking..

When you walk into a place and think "oh yeh another burger joint" but you are pleasently surprised…read morethat the brioche is about where all commonality ends. Ok yeh, Maccas does Brioche now but do they do it with amazing cut meats or southern fried chicken? I was confused as to what to call this place as it serves up an array of Americana type dishes with interesting add ons. What you can say is Dexter pulls off a very unusual offering while still being casual enough to not feel you need a PhD to understand the menu. I ordered the Big Dexter. Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket.... wow it was yum. I usually do the half way swap with the wife so we can experience more of the menu but there was no hope for this one. This was accompanied by Shoe String Fries finished with a BBQ Rub. .... Hold up. I can't forget... I actually started with a can of Tecate and Burnt Siracha Corn. Which was a great introduction to a lazy Sunday at Dexter. Can't wait to go back! Apparently the meat donuts are in high demand

The Local Burger Co - Big burger with sweet potato fries

It is hard to fault a shop which aims to bring inner-suburbs food quality to the outer east. Which…read moreis exactly what the local burger co is doing, setting up shop in croydon south. With oversight from a couple of staff from the original Carlton north store, they are grilling (medium rare!) burgers, frying up sweet potato fries, and swilling American sodas out in the sticks. And, though it has only been five days, the quality seems equal to the original shop. Quality produce, prepared efficiently and well, and served on enameled tin plates. The burgers are big. The aptly named big burger is a whole meal in itself. But there are sides to choose from as well: sweet potato fries, normal potato fries, chilli cheese fries for those who like to turn their chips into their main meal. And a pretty epic selection of American and Mexican soft drinks, along side Phoenix juices and fizzy offerings. The ambiance is nice, going with the polished-concrete-and-exposed-bulb aesthetic of the original shop - which, in the outer suburbs, isn't overdone yet. I'm looking forward to the weekly specials menu being up, and trying some of the spectacular-looking cakes TL;DR: visit. The food is great. And it is 58,000times better than any take away in surrounding suburbs.

Half the menu is not available, there's only a few soft drinks in the fridge., no milkshakes. And its dear $10 for fries with gravy and its s small serve. Social media and their pictures of beautiful milkshakes led me to poking around the internet which…read morefurther led to a drive to Campbellfield. What I met there changed everything. The set up is different, and like as if they took a tip from the whole food truck craze. You order outside from a fixed stand and take a number to sit either indoors, or in their outdoor seating area. The indoor section has a playpen for the kiddies and wood panels surrounding the wall. There's a steady stream of people, which I always take as a good thing. The first visit was strictly a milkshake mission. The Ferrero Rocher was perfect and complete chocolate hazelnut, not a let down. The Creme Brulee was good too, but I wish I ordered the Ferrero Rocher. Both were thick, but not too thick, just a really good consistency. And sweet, but not too sweet. The second visit involved going all out with their menu choices: a herb crusted chick burger, Raffaelo shake and waffle cheese fries. And all I can say is whoa. This meal is not meant for one. There's no way. I was happy with everything, but it was so overwhelming to try and finish everything. The chicken burger was a handful on a lovely Sourdough bun, and had a rich Alfredo sauce. The waffle fries were yummy but had a thick and heavy three cheese sauce. The shake was beautiful and just like liquefied Raffaelo, which is exactly what you'd want it to be. It was a learning experience, next time would be one or the other (burger vs waffle fries), the shakes are a must. Or maybe I'd split the burger and still have the shake and fries. I'm not sure, but what I do know is that I won't do all three at once again. Plus side: open til 11pm on weekdays and midnight on Friday & Saturday.

It's always ideal for us to find burger places that are not too far away from home, so we headed to…read moreCampbellfield for lunch the other week to visit Burgies. It is easily accessible via public transport, with a bus stop close by. We were a little confused upon arrival as there is a burger track situated at the front - so we thought that Burgies might have been a burger truck and not a 'dine in' kind of experience... but we soon realised that they had both indoor and outdoor seating, and the truck was there to take orders. We were greeted by a friendly staff member at the truck, and all the staff members we encountered there were very hospitable and sociable. We both ordered 'The Lava' burger with an added patty, waffle cheese fries with added avocado, and gelato thick shakes - one being Strawberry Cheesecake and the other Ferrero Rocher. Price wise they stack up pretty well against their competitors. Their most expensive burger is $12.00, and to add-on a beef patty only costs an extra $2.50 - which is amazing value! They have a range of burgers including beef, chicken, lamb and vegetarian options. Their shakes and sides were around average price. We were given a restaurant pager, and then took a seat inside. The venue is really great! We loved the set up, and we loved the use of the crates on the walls which tied in with the industrial area. It has a modern interior, and even had a play pen for kids which we thought was a great idea for families that visit! It wasn't long before our pager went off, so we went and grabbed our food. Everything looked delicious, and we were particularly excited about the waffle fries. They tasted scrumptious! Lovely and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The avocado and cheese sauce went really well with them, and the serving size was definitely decent. 'The Lava' burger was really yummy too! The patty was spicy, which we did not initially realise, but it was enjoyable. The tasty cheese, egg and caramelised onion tasted really nice together, and the lettuce gave a bit of refreshment to break down the spiciness and warmth. We quite enjoyed the mild-peri sauce too! The shakes were thick and creamy, and conveniently given in take-away cups. We were impressed by the overall location, service and food at Burgies - and highly recommend that you check them out.
