Ok let's preface this with I am on track to try every single burger joint Istanbul has to offer. I…read morehave tried many. I have been disappointed, disgusted, pleasantly suprised, satisfied, and an array of other emotions. It is always the same case though. The meat was great, but the bun sucked. Nice bun that held its own, but just a regular kofte pattty (get with the ground meat program please!) Decent bun, decent meat, but soggy fries. I am sorry folks, but you need to have the whole package to be number one on my list! Well when I was told by a turkish friend and fellow burger lover, that this was the real deal, I shot down on the metro and plopped myself down, ready to indulge. The menu, simple and with english on the back, talked of homemade pickled and in house grounding and prepping of the patty. Note: Burger House Handmade please take note of the handmade part, please!
Ordering the beef bacon burger (if only they offered pork) medium rare with their tossed paremesean and truffle fries, I was blown away. The burger was well made, well cooked, well presented, and tasted like in house ground meat and formed there as well. The fries were well cooked and very very tasty! The bun had a little char on it which I like, though it could have been toasted a little more. All in all, I immediatley said it " I have found the best burger in Istanbul!" I will certainly come here again. Now though they easily get a 5 star review, their biggest flaw was the 18tl nachos at the beginning of our meal.
When are turkish reasturants going to learn? Good nacho's are all about layers and melted cheese with a little brown on it. They served the 15 nacho's on a plate with some minced meat and what looked like cheesewiz! It didn't taste bad, but at least 8 of those nacho's literally was just a plain nacho. 18tl, seriously?
So Burgerhood, despite your terrible and expensive nacho's, you have my heart... and my wallet! I highly, highly reccomend this place. Best spot for a burger and a beer. A little taste of America in my new hometown.
