Listen, when you hear that there's a restaurant in a cave in North Alabama, you just go, because…read morenot going would just be silly and that would break the basic rules of road trip etiquette. Is it easy to get to? No, because it's a restaurant in a CAVE. Is it gourmet food? No, because it's a restaurant IN A CAVE. Does it have a fancy wine list and white tablecloths? No, because IT'S A RESTAURANT IN A CAVE. Is it family friendly? Uh, yeah... as long as your family is cool, like mine. Is the food good? Yes, actually. Is it super cool? Yes, because it's a frickin' restaurant in a cave! Look, the bottom line is this- the food is good, the service is good but the ambience is the coolest part. Once you find it among the beautiful rural Alabama scenery, you park your car and you wait at the little pavilion. A couple of minutes will go by and a truck will come to pick you up and take you on the short ride down to the cave. It's a fun ride, a beautiful place and there's good food to eat. One thing is for certain- going to the Rattlesnake Saloon will become a core memory for your kids and your family. My best advice- go during the day so you don't miss the scenery of the surrounding valley.
