this was the first diner i've been to since i've been in manchester & it reminded me of many…read moresimilar ones back in the states! i really enjoyed the diner atmosphere as it's really popular, especially during the lunchtime rush among families. we waited for a few minutes before being seated at a booth table for two which was super cute! i wanted to try the beet root burger as it sounded really nice and i asked our server for her opinion on it (who was amazing, given how busy it was she still wore a smile and had a sense of humor!) and she spoke honestly abt haven't had tried it but most of the vegetarians really enjoyed it so i decided to get that! my friend always ordered a hot dog as he told me and it surprised me when i saw that it was actually a foot long hot dog! it took a bit for our food to arrive, about 10-15 minutes but it was a really nice tasting burger! i did enjoy it and am glad we came to eat here while we were new years shopping at cheshire oaks!

There's an instant feeling of "Am I on a film set?" when you're in here, a VERY American film set. The music, the bright red decor, the minimalist cost cutting interior design to maximise space/profit screamed birth of capitalism. The super smiley staff with an overzealous urge to please. Numerous diner scenes from various films flashed before my eyes as I sat pretend perusing the menu. A very northern accented man interrupted my day dreaming, a shock given the American nature of that dream. I ordered a rootbeer, my first ever one. (Certainly won't be my last... It was incredible) The food was very simple. The burger was normal sized as were the fries. There was no pretense, this was just a diner serving basic American food. Having not tried ALL the eateries in Cheshire Oaks it'd be wrong for me to call this the best place to eat there. But i bet it'd be pretty close. The locale is never gonna be one for 'fine dining'. Which is fine by me, I'm not exactly a huge fan of culinary pretension. But after a few laps of the shops and with hunger drums beating you'd be a fool if you ignore the delights of Ed's diner. Anyhoo, once I'd parked, I headed inside to a very clean, well thought-out restaurant, which includes a soft play area for the under 5's. Excellent! The place was dead at 12.15 on a Monday, but at least that meant the service was top-notch. I can see why though, as the non-obvious access meant that another young family, with a baby in a car seat, had to walk all the way across the car park negotiating the planters and kerbs, just to come in for their burgers!

The location is good for those shopping at Cheshire Oaks or Coliseum Leisure Park, although the latter just seems so miserable, dead and almost abandoned. I've visited this particular Nando's now, and standards are OK, I've certainly had better in a Nando's, yet I've also had worse. The interior is fairly comfortable, and there's a good number of booths. I did find the food expensive for what it is, as of October 2024, my meal came to £15.20, which I find to be rather expensive for fast casual, and that doesn't include extras such as drinks and Perinaise. The prices also seem to be rising out of control, even in the current climate, they seem to be putting their prices up every couple of months, much more frequently than rivals. Despite being a chicken restaurant, they don't offer regular mayonnaise, so you'll have to choose between their vegan alternative or pay extra for their Peri-naise (mayonnaise mixed with peri-peri sauce). I ordered a Medium Chicken Butterfly with peri chips and mash. Despite ordering the peri chips, they didn't season the chips themselves as Nando's usually does, which I found odd, they just served my food with the sachet of salt on the side. I don't know why, but I always find it tastes better out of the shaker. The chicken had nice flavours but was a little overcooked for my liking, and the mash did require some mashing with my fork as it just looked and tasted microwaved. The staff were friendly, and we shared a joke about the fact I visit often enough to remember my Nando's card number and service was reasonably fast in receiving the food. 3* - OK, The staff were friendly and the food was fine, but I've certainly had a lot better and wouldn't rush back to this specific Nando's location in the future.

We ordered our food on their app while in store at 13.01. The app started to malfunction. It appeared to have taken our money and asked for our table number. Table 13. By 13.20 we were no further forward. So we asked a passing staffer who got us a manager. This lady put the order through again on their app on my phone and it wouldn't work for her either. I then followed her to a till, she punched in the order. I paid by credit card and by this time it was 13:30. I got 'sorry about that' and off she went. Just after 13:40 some 40 minutes after starting my order the food arrived, delivered to our table, after a tour of the restaurant as the waiter appeared not to know where table 13 was. I mean the lousy not sincere apology was bad enough but the least we should expect is for staff to know where the tables are located. Awful. PRO TIP: There is a children's play area outside, and they will even bring the food to the play area, if you follow the instructions when using the MyMcDonald's App. It is the only McDonald's store in the area, the nearest other restaurants in the McDonald's chain are at Chester Motorway Services (4.3 miles away) and Chester Retail Park (6.5 miles away), so I'm sure this is appreciated by people who live locally within Ellesmere Port. It's an extremely fab place to get a 'curry' from as it serves most of the traditional and modern Currys you can buy in posh restaurants with all the trimmings. I would suggest buying the Naan bread from here as they are quite large and very enjoyable. I would say get some of the trimmings as well even if you are only ordering for one as these add so much to a meal from here. Always good service and they will deliver to the local area but it's well worth going to collect. Far better than some places on the same road. I recommend the chicken Korma from here made with proper coconut milk.
