Can't wait to come back and have a closer look at this beautiful old city. Located about 30km from Frankfurt it's easy to get to by car or train. Located on the banks of the Main with lots of cycle paths that lead through some gorgeous bush and countryside, this is a well preserved city with beautiful architecture. Very interesting buildings and some of great historical significance. Great al fresco cafes dot the streets and, there is a central market square where markets are held on weekends and so on. The Neutscher Höhe is a crossing of two tar roads marked by a wayside cross in the middle of it…read more Throughout the summer, wild roses are entwined around it. The road from Neutsch to Ober-Beerbach is a proper, albeit small road open to normal traffic. It has only one lane and whenever two cars meet, one has to wait in one of the lay-byes or on the grassy shoulder until the other one has passed a perfect test for the friendliness of the people of the region. The road from Frankenhausen to Wurzelbach is only open for agricultural traffic and the like and is part of the European long distance hiking trail E1 which leads from Denmark to the Mediteranian. This part of it is called the Hutzelstraße. The view is spectacular. One can see the Veste Otzberg in the northeast, the Neunkirchner Höhe with the highest church in the Odenwald to the southeast. To the west the Rhine Valley is visible and on a clear day one can see as far as the woody hills of the Rhineland-Palatium. Usually there is a stiff breeze blowing up here and for generations of children from the area this has been the place to test their kites. But even without such toys, the place is well worth a Sunday stroll or even a longer hike along the Hutzelstraße. And of course, this Fernwanderweg is becoming ever more popular with bikers.

Die…read moreeigentliche Zitadelle beherbergt zwar ein Museum, ansonsten sind der Platz und Umgebung (Drususturm) eher etwas für ein entspanntes Picknick. Das Gelände grenzt auf einer Seite fast direkt an den Bahnhof "Römisches Theater" an, weshalb ich mich überhaut in die Ecke begeben habe. An dem Abend fand eine Filmvorführung statt, für die uich aber nicht geblieben bin. Von Events abgesehen eher zum Vergessen.

High ropes forest parcours, middle of Rhein Main Gebiet. Good for groups…read more Relatively new setup. All of the parcours were in excelllent condition. Good workout/challlenge for any age. The bonus is that there's a nice biergarten right in the middle of it for a nice beer or apple wine after the adventure. Paid EUR16 for a 14 year old but be warned some of the parcours are age restricted. He was able too navigate most of them though.
