TLDR: Do yourself (and your furry friend(s)) a favor and check out Burbank Dog Park! You'll leave with incredibly happy and tired dogs every time! In moving to Baton Rouge from out of state, I was excited when I learned that the Burbank Dog Park was a short drive from my new house. I have two German Shepherd mixed breeds who love running and playing, and while our backyard is a decent size, having the potential to run in a 6-acre dog park sounded amazing! This park does not disappoint! The park is surprisingly clean with a 1/4 mile walking path. Everyone that I have encountered during our visits thus far has been friendly and I have not seen any misbehavior (from dogs or people)! In addition to the main space, there is a dedicated small dog section (separate entrance) and within the main space, there is a section with agility course activities (which I would love my dogs to try, but they are definitely not interested!). There is also a separate entrance to a section with a pond, but we have not yet explored this. The main space includes a dog water station and a gazebo with two picnic tables to enjoy some shade. Outside of the park is a dog wash station. There is plenty of parking! The only minor complaint is that there is not much shade other than the gazebo. There are trees, but none too close to the walking path, making it very hot; early morning or before close are ideal times to go (at least in the summer...which is probably obvious to anyone reading this). Note that the the Burbank Dog Park is closed on Mondays for maintenance. read more

LOVE this park. Took my dog for the first time today, it was almost poop-free which is so hard to find in a dog park. It is also huge, probably the biggest dog park I have ever been to. It has an overhang for shade and very peaceful. Met some great people with friendly dogs. There are 3 sections, little dogs, big dogs and one with a pond. It's the best dog park I have ever been to. They also have baby pools for dogs! My dog was there and had the time of her life today!! read more

Great park! Expansive with lots of space. Separate areas for small dogs and multiple areas with different environments for dogs to run, swim, change environments to avoid dogs, and a dog wash area. Met a ton at great people after we adopted Lulu. Wish they had one like it in Atlanta! read more

We usually bring our dog to the Rasing Cane's dog park off of Millerville because it's closer to home. There are always plenty of dogs to play with and the mini swimming pools. But I have to say I'm so glad I made the drive to Burbank Park because they have ponds for your dog to swim in. After a swim, they have a dog wash station so you can rinse them off from being in the pond! The park is absolutely huge and just amazing. They have an agility court for you to test your doggos skills. This place is my new favorite. I will be going from now on! But most important my dog loved it and he took a long nap when we got home! read more

Yes I like this place. It was clean and well maintained. There is a ton of room to walk your dog or to let it run free inside the fenced in area. It is true that some people don't pay attention to what their dog is doing which is very annoying. I personally loved walking around the edge of the park. It was very peaceful. So I'm ashamed to admit I don't bring our poorly socialized a-hole schnauzer. He could use the exercise. No, we come here for the other dogs. My little boy loves, loves, loves dogs so we come to watch the water dogs swim while we squeal at the birds. The fenced in facility is just so very nice. And they've expanded it recently to include an enclosed water feature. Very safe. Very nice. Safer for the birds and the dogs. You can enjoy any number of enclosed spaces, including smaller dogs, and when the fun is done you can rinse your pooch off in the shower facility while he checks his pee-mail. It doesn't hurt that there is a pokestop in the parking lot - LOL. But keep your eyes on your dogs and your kids! read more

Extremely frustrating that the dog park on Burbank it's not open on a weekend. This is the second or third time I've driven from Gonzales to Baton Rouge just to let the dog run. The sign says only open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 8 you've got to be kidding me BREC! read more

Four stars instead of 5 because the city decided to build it more than 10 miles from my side of town. Certainly the largest and most well maintained Bark Park in the BREC system, this park even has a separate area for water dogs with a pond. There's a hydrant in the middle of the pond that supposedly leads to a fresh water source that allows it to be drained and refilled from time to time, though to be honest I've never seen it drained except for the winter. Basically, every time we've been there the pond is sort of like a pool of water stuffed with doggie hair floating on top. The bark park is BEHIND the soccer park... you turn into the soccer park and drive around to the rear. DRIVE SLOW on the road - POTHOLES EVERYWHERE! Just FYI, here is some copypasta of the rules of the dog park from brec.org. 1. The off-leash dog area is for dogs, their handlers and those accompanying them. No other use is allowed. 2. Dogs must be properly inoculated and healthy, free of contagious conditions, diseases and parasites. 3. No puppies under 4 months of age allowed. 4. No more than 3 dogs per owner. 5. Females in heat are prohibited. 6. Dogs must wear rabies and registration tags on collar. 7. Dogs must be on a leash while entering and exiting the fence area. 8. Owners must remove any pinch, prong or spiked collars before entering the park. 9. Owners must be control their dogs at all times. 10. Owners must have possession of dog leash at all times. 11. Handlers must be 16 years of age or older. 12. Children under 12 years of age must be under strict adult supervision. No running, chasing or petting dogs without the owner's permission. 13. No strollers, bicycles, chairs, etc. are allowed in the off-leash area. Wheelchairs are allowed. 14. Professional dog trainers are not permitted to use this facility to conduct business. 15. All dog waste must be disposed of properly. 16. Persistent barking is not allowed. 17. No digging is allowed. Owner will be responsible for filling holes. 18. Aggressive dogs are not permitted. If aggression occurs, the dog must leave the park. 19. Rawhides, food (dog or human) and glass bottles are not permitted. 20. No smoking on park grounds. I loved my first time at the park. Beautiful park for larger dogs that like to swim and fetch. My dogs are small and they had a great time running around. The large dog parks were on each side so they were able to see what was going on with the larger dogs. The complex is well taken care of. People have been nice with the exception of one man. Smokes the entire time, doesn't watch his 2 beautiful dogs who seem to bully and jump the other dogs. I was able to avoid him but I probably would leave if I was in the same partition. read more

This is a very large park. Great for pets, families, kids. This park is also a large sports Plex. Lots of soccer fields as well. There is a large circular track around the fields. Overall, nice for any kind of outdoor sporting events. Of note, this is also a place for people to play Pokémon go. There are field lights at night, so we can accommodate events at all times. Lots of parking on site, gravel lot next to all the soccer fields. read more

This is a great place to take my little Boston terrier mix. Ponds for swimming and a nice separate little dog park. We like walking the nice 1/4 mile path in the big dog park. There is a great place to hose of your dog after he rolls in something gross. A great place to meet nice people and generally intelligent dog owners who actually know dogs. My only note of concern is that sometimes the park closes the gates and you can't access the dog park but the hours are usually posted. Otherwise...thisnis an excellent park! Large, clean, well kept, and a hose the wash you dog off after. Love this place! read more

Big open area for larger dogs and also includes a smaller fenced in park for puppies and smaller dogs. I take my 80lb. GSD here and he absolutely loves it. Kept up better than the Canes dog park by LSU. read more

We frequent this park pretty often since we live in the area. The small dog park is usually empty so we go over to the large dog part more often. There's a sign that states that your dog needs to be a certain height but both of mine are slightly larger small dog breed so it isn't a problem for us. Most of the time other owners are really good at keeping an idea on their dogs when they start bullying other dogs or fighting, so I'm not too concerned. I do hate all the big water holes! Make sure you bring a blanket and shampoo with you because 9 out of 10 times your dog will get filthy! Luckily there's an area to bathe and hose off. read more

I like this dog park. There's water fountains, a bathing station, pavilion, benches, walking paths, fenced off swim area, fenced off retriever training pond, fenced off agility course and separate areas for small and large dogs. They also provide biodegradable bags for waste. Your dog WILL get muddy and wet here, even if they don't go to the splash area because there is a giant mud hole in the middle of the large dog area. Bring a towel and some soap! There's only so much shade so wear sunscreen as well. read more

I heard about this dog park so was very excited to go. I love love the small dog park! I have a yorkie and big dogs scare him to death. It was nice for him to be able to run and play and not have to worry about some big dog intimidate him. It's big open space and he has a ball. There are benches for owners to sit and space out while the dogs run and have a good time. This will now become my weekend hang out for me and my dog. read more

My dog really enjoys this park, but I think I like the City Park dog park better. The Burbank dog park has a swimming pool that's fun for medium and large dogs, a big sand pit (my dog's favorite part), a paved walking path, and a separate area for smaller dogs. It's about 6 acres in total. Despite all this awesome stuff, there is little shade at this park aside from two covered picnic tables in the regular section (no shade in the swimming pool area or small dog area). Bring your sunglasses and sunscreen! Also, the bathrooms are a bit further away than at the City Park dog park. read more

This dog park is great except one thing ill get to that at the end. The park features a huge space for the dogs to run and play with others dogs who are ussually very freindly and love to play. There is a small dog park for smaller dogs but you can also bring those dogs into the big dog park. The finally thing is where my dogs have had the most problems they have a puppy pool which would be great if they cleaned it or used clean water in it. My dogs have been in the pound twice and they drink some of the water when they are in it and both times my dogs have gotten pretty sick. The idea of the water feature is great but they really need to clean it. read more

This park is huge!. There are a couple of water holes here for your pup to play in but be forewarned they are mud holes. There is a washing station to clean them up afterwards so bring some pup soap with you. read more

Best dog park in town. Very spacious, doggie pool that is about 1.5 to 2 ft deep at any given place. Walking path for us humans is a good workout. There is an over hang area with picnic tables for shade. Small and Large parks for your choosing. Water fountain inside, and a hose outside to give them a bath if they get a little messy playing around. At least 6 poop bag stations located around the walk path, no excuses to not clean up after your pup. There is an outside pond area for the big swimmers read more

This is my favorite dog park in town. It's a wide open yet enclosed and safe park for the dogs. They have a fun pond to splash around in. I only wish that owners would pick up after there dogs more. read more

This is the best dog park in town. I say this because I go to another park most of the time because it is closer to my home but even though it is a nice park it does not compare to this. This dog park is the biggest one around so the dogs have soooo much room to play, and there is also a dog pool area for them to play in during the summer. The small dog and big dog areas are separate which is great for the smaller dogs who don't get along with the bigger ones, or just for busier days when you don't want your smaller dog getting lost with all of the bigger ones. The best dog park I've been to. It's huge, sand in the middle, grass everywhere, and a path for you to walk around on. There's also a seperate small dog park to the side. In the back they have a dog pool, water bubbler up front, and a place to wash your dogs too! The people and their dogs are generally pretty chill, and today Yelp was here and the environment was wicked cool. I suggest this place to anybody. read more
