Embarrassed that this is my community High school. This review is on the graduation I attended last…read morenight for my nephew. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. I got there early and they had pre-recorded messages on the loud speaker from graduating students. I guess the school though it was OK for one of the recordings to include curse words. And since it was pre-recorded i had to hear it over and over. I cant believe the school thought that was ok. Than as they announced the graduating class individually to accept they're diploma there was a handful of disrespectful students who yelled in the microphone as the next students name was being announced. So disrespectful to the next student being acknowledged. I would of been more pissed had that been my nephews name who was over shadowed by the former student that decided it was OK to take charge of the microphone. There comes a point when the staff should of stepped in. But they obviously didnt see a problem with it. Maybe because it wasn't they're child getting overshadowed. Hopefully I never have to attend another ghetto graduation here in the future. Also glad my kids wont be graduating here.

Aside from the academics and personal growth, the school offers enrichment courses including Spanish, computers, music, drama, PE and art that are included in the curriculum. Because this is part of the regular curriculum, your child really has the opportunity to build on these extra activities since it is included in their program all the way through 8th grade. Another advantage of choosing a school like St. Albans is it is a small school, everyone gets to know your child very well (both students and faculty), which makes it a very comforting environment for your child to grown up in. You can be assured that no student will "fall through the cracks" at St. Albans and you will find that they truly want what is best for your child and will help them reach their full potential. The head of school always puts the needs of the children first. The school is very lucky to have her. She is intelligent, knowledgeable, hard working and very involved in all that goes on with the school. Mrs. Bernauer sets the bar high for both the students and the school, which is what makes St. Albans continually grow and meet the highest of educational standards. Our family feels that we have made the best choice in choosing St. Albans for our children's education. We have no doubt that this school is setting our children up to be the best, well-rounded individuals they can be.

A damaging experience I would never repeat…read more I am deeply sorry to hear that children are still having experiences similar to what my son endured at St. Albans more than twenty years ago. Our family's experience with the school could not have been worse. What we were told during the enrollment process did not match the reality we encountered. In addition to tuition, families were expected to make substantial financial contributions and fulfill significant volunteer-hour requirements. As a single parent, I was unable to meet all of those demands. As a result, I felt my son was singled out and ostracized--not by the other students or their parents, but by the school administration itself. My son was labeled "too active." In his class, I felt that boys were often judged more harshly for displaying normal childhood energy, while children who could immediately sit quietly and conform were treated as the ideal. Although my son was not expelled, I ultimately and willingly removed him because I believed the environment had become toxic and damaging to his confidence. In my experience, school officials were unwilling to work constructively with children who did not fit their narrow definition of the "perfect student." The culture felt arrogant, inflexible, and dismissive of individual differences. The academic expectations were also unreasonable. No fourth grader should routinely be assigned three to four hours of homework each night. I was also extremely unhappy with the poor-quality, unhealthy food served during after-school care. My strongest advice to parents is to find a school that leads with kindness, patience, compassion, and a genuine willingness to support each child as an individual. Based on our family's experience, St. Albans was unequivocally not that place.

(Is Mr. Porter still the science teacher?) There were some kids who partied but those kids are everywhere. I was bullied by a couple girls, but it was handled privately and promptly with positive outcomes..In fact I ended up being friends with one of them. In all, it was one of the better schools I went to as a child, and I went to quite a few! Not sure how it is 21 years later; but if it is the same then I would highly recommend.
