Came here for breakfast on our last day in town. This is a lovely rooftop restaurant, part of a…read morelocal hotel, that whips up an amazing breakfast! Walk right into the lobby and the front desk will radio up to announce your arrival (or figure out if there's space up there for you). Then walk up a couple flights of stairs to the open air rooftop terrace. They have menus in both English and Spanish, both paper and QR. They will set you up with the wifi password if you ask. A breakfast set comes with fruit, a baby pancake, coffee and juice, and your choice of entree. My partner had pork chilaquiles in red sauce - it was really tasty; if you like meat, that's an option to try. I had the tortilla espanola with goat cheese and caramelized onion; this is a Spanish-style potato and egg omelette/casserole. It was downright dang amazing! It was a hefty portion and I had them pack my leftover for me to take to the airport afterwards because no way was I wasting a crumb of that!!! The with a side salad that came with it was an after thought. Our waiter and his colleague were good and attentive. Really enjoyable breakfast. P.S. the leftovers were eaten at the BJX airport with plastic forks from airport burger place. I was still drooling over it at the airport. If you come for breakfast, definitely try the tortilla espanola - queso de cabra y cebollas caramelizada!

Los Campos is a highly rated restaurant in Guanajuato. We decided to visit for dinner only to…read morediscover it was only us as diners. Normally, this would cause a red flag but perhaps it was early or an off night. Los Campos is located on the south-eastern side of Centro Historico district and is an easy walk from Jardin de la Union. What drew us to Los Campos was the referenced diversity of their menu. My companion eats chicken and fish, while I am a vegan and plant-based. Their menu has multiple vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. While the flavors were pretty good, it was the plate presentation that was exceptional and we both felt that Los Campos was a little too pretentious for us. I was limited to order the Chaminones con Mezcal. Mushrooms flambeed in Mezcal with orange zest and dried chile. My wife, although not excited to try, did have the Burrito de Cerdo Ahumado en Salsa Colorado. It wasn't that Los Campos was too fancy, it was more like we, as diners, were more comfortable in other settings. We would suspect that diners from the United States or from Europe would fall in love with the avant-garde interiors and plate presentations. From all accounts, that all seems to be true, it's just our style. Our food was good and was plated expertly and I don't have any issues recommending Los Campos for a romantic dinner out for a couple.

We really enjoyed Los Campos. Good food, good service, good drinks. Would definitely eat here…read moreagain. The cheese plate was bomb-ass. My only regret was not ordering the steak fillet. Next time.

The Rosewood is such a classy hotel Jamie W and I were feeling we might not be quite up to snuff to…read moredine on the rooftop here. However, the staff didn't make us feel that way since they gave us the table with inarguably the best view of the city during the most photogenic time of the day, magic hour at sunset (Photo 3). How did we get so lucky since we made our reservation just the day before? And what better way to start than with a pair of MX$340 Carajillos, the Mexican version of espresso martinis (Photo 7). The use of Licor 43 lent a welcome sweet spiciness to the deep espresso and fit the moment perfectly. We were happy to receive a complimentary serving of warm Focaccia topped with a wedge of liver pate, olive oil, and chives (Photo 10). It was a nice surprise quickly devoured. Our first shared dish was the MX$365 Ensalada Luna, a hearty and enticing mix of greens, stracciatella cheese, speck ham, fresh peaches and figs, and quinoa in a citrus and vanilla vinaigrette (Photo 4). Our entree was the MX$406 Tacos de Lechon Rostizado, a trio of roasted suckling pig tacos with crispy skin cracklings, red onion, and fresh green salsa (Photo 5). The pork was fork tender. Nestled in a flour tortilla, the soft pulled meat stood in nice contrast to the crack of the skin. We went for a second drink, but this time a mocktail, the MX$195 Chilate, a refreshing alcohol-free blend of cacao, rice, cinnamon, and raw cane sugar in a coconut shell (Photo 6). While awaiting our dessert order, we were surprised by a complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert, a bit of a head-scratcher. We didn't say we were celebrating anything, but hey, we didn't complain. The sparkler was already lit and the staff was harmonizing. It was a chocolate ganache cake with blueberries atop puffed rice (Photo 8). That didn't stop us from enjoying the crispy-sweet MX$289 Churros with cinnamon ice cream and champurrado chocolate sauce (Photo 9), while entranced by the nighttime view (Photo 2).
