We didn't know at the time that Mr. Miller, as the contractor, would have been required to pull a permit with the city, which he did not do. Therefore, his multiple building code violations went undetected. We would never have known had the fascia boards not started to buckle two months after their installation. We contacted Mr. Miller, and he brushed off our complaints. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (https://www.bbb.org/us/oh/cincinnati/profile/basement-finishing/edwards-construction-inc-0292-8383/complaints#411223207). When Mr. Miller still refused to meet his responsibilities, we were forced to get a lawyer to help mediate the situation. During this process, we had two independent forensic engineers (ours and one working for Edwards Construction's liability insurance) inspect Mr. Miller's work. They found more issues than we did and so we were able to reach a settlement in May 2020- over a year later! We got our money back, including the cost of the required tear-down. Still, we lost so much time with this unnecessary hassle. Edwards Construction presents itself as an upstanding business that produces quality work. That was the reason we hired them in the first place! However, we were thoroughly disappointed by our experience, from the execution of the project to our interactions with Mr. Miller. If you're thinking about using Edwards Construction for your project, please be careful!

I wish…read moreI had checked their BBB, "F" rating (look up W F Paving-it appears he's changing his company name to avoid litigation) before moving forward with working with. The owner, Cedric Thomas, is a man without a conscious, lacks remorse even when faced with overwhelming evidence (including video) of his and his company's wrongdoing and feels he's above the law by ignoring judgements. I sued him in small claims court for the return of my 2nd draw payment, $6000 of $16,100 paid to him. He is content with collecting daily interest charges and additional court cost, the amount is now over $7000 and growing. Prior to our court appearance Cedric used intimidation tactics by 1) counter-suing for the balance of his contract (wanting to be paid for work he did not perform) and initiating putting a lien on my house; actually taping a Notice of Furninshing to my front door. His counter-suit was thrown out. I've been told it is rare to have a magistrate take the time and write out in detail why they make a judgement, but mine listed it all. I signed his contract and paid his required 1/3 draw in February 2023. He started the work in April 2023. It is now December 2023 and due to the litany of things his company did wrong I sit with just a hole in the ground instead of collecting rent from a tenant that should be living in the garage apartment that can't be built until I find a company that can correct or find work arounds his mistakes and finish what he started. Wood Fundi Paving is the nightmare contractor that HGTV shows are made of. Run for your life away from this company.
