It's a collaborative environment, in which teachers work with each child's strengths and weaknesses, then communicate ideas and solutions to the parent. The teachers always start the day with a plan but understand the importance of pivoting when something isn't working for an individual or the class.  Children are given a safe place to play and are encouraged to get messy. Sometimes a spontaneous dance party is exactly what the children need. We are sad to go to kindergarten this fall because we will miss this MAGICAL place with our favorite teachers, best friends, and wonderful memories.

My daughter spent nearly 5 years at A to Z and my son 3. They really thrived and loved the staff and curriculum. It is a small daycare, I believe max 3 kids with a few infants upstairs and downstairs toddlers through pre-K. Food is provided and it is consistent with Montgomery county guidelines. The kids have reading time, circle time, and arts and craft and learning time. The facilities are very clean and there are lots of activities and toys for the children. They also have regular nap time / quiet time for the children and snacks. In particular, my daughters math skills were very high for Kindergarten. The locations are very centrally located on Falls Road and Counselman Drive, which is very easy for a lot of parents continuing on to 495. I have only nice things to say of the staff and Leilas team and anyone who joins becomes like family.

We have been so impressed with this preschool - I wish we had found it sooner! My daughter had been to two different preschools and neither seemed like an ideal fit for a different reasons. But we feel like we have found the perfect place for her. The teachers are kind and caring (and fun!), while providing a structured and safe environment for our daughter. My daughter has excelled at academic benchmarks- including forming and recognizing letters and understanding basic math. The school has impressive protocols for Covid-19 in place, keeping "bubbles" for the classrooms to minimize exposure and cleaning protocols. As parents joining during the Covid era, we actually haven't set foot in the school, but we feel so comfortable with our decision due to the accessibility of the teachers and the administrators. We have done virtual tours, participated in virtual classroom events, and have quick access to the teachers and administrator if we ever need it. It is a very welcoming school to all its families and students. We have felt the warmth of the community since our first inquiries into the program. It is a Jewish preschool and we love this element of the program - but I would encourage (and already have encouraged!) families of any faith to check out the school. You will certainly feel the same welcome we have. To be honest if I was…read morefrom here and knew about cps I would do that to them first because on multiple occasions my child brought up to my attention that teacher makes another kids heart him because he's "being a bad boy" , or they didn't give him pillow at sleeping time because he doesn't listen , called me in when my sons fever was unnoticed until it got to 102 F ( we went straight to hospital it could have crossed him brain damage), had chemical burn on his arms from doing they wouldn't tell me what ,we've been difficult to deal with and brought up lots of this issues to management so only way to get rid off us was to call cps . They do it anonymously, so you don't have a prove of who did it and child services don't tell you who reported you,upon enrolling I provided school with my second home address which we have listed up for sale and it's the address that cps were provided with, so it makes it clear who reported me as an abusive parent for no reason ( because he had two small bruises on his ankle or shin which my son told child worker he got from his friend in school , plus he's perfectly active maybe he got it from riding bicycle etc..) I hope who ever reads this makes right conclusions , I am very proud of myself posting this review instead of being embarrassed or feeling humiliated , I'm sure people need know how this day care operates and learns from my mistakes. They are amazing! My kid has learned so much and is so independent. She learned some baby sign language which is the cutest thing ever. They build confidence and the love of learning through play, meeting each child where they are. CLNS was also an education for me in parenting - in a very loving and non-judgmental way. For example, when my son was 2, it didn't benefit my son for me to anxiously ask him to apologize for taking a toy or accidentally stepping on another child's sand creation. Without shaming me or my son, the teachers demonstrated how to teach empathy verses forcing a meaningless (at that age) statement. They assured me that it was totally normal that my son was a tad late on the potty training front. They never any shame or force kids - they magically create confident kids who love learning. An unexpected benefit was the CLNS community of families, that was a huge support through these early years - I am so sad for this year to end. My sons favorite part: the awesome playground that is very organic and inspires creativity.
