There is frequently standing water in the shower / steam area. The pool hours during the summer and weekends are limited, and during weekday mornings multiple lanes are shut down as the summer camps bring kids there. Prepare to have kickboards and kids invading your lane if you are trying to swim laps. On weekends there are only a couple of hours when you can even try to get in lap swimming. The Y in Torrington treats its adult members trying to get in swimming time as a nuisance. They want you to pay but they don't want you there.

There was a lady in the sauna with her bag full on grooming herself, brushing her hair and applying deodorant, talking on the phone and drying her personal belongings. I guess they don't implement rules here or personal hygiene safety. I also explained that it was my first time visiting there and no one even bothered to give me a tour or show me where anything was. also the women's locker room doesn't have a steam room, but the men's locker does and the woman's locker room is a bit of a walk to the pool and not a direct doorway into the pool like most YMCAs so I felt very unsafe walking down a dark hallway to the pool in my bathing suit

My son who is four years old and has autism hasn't had his needs met consistently. The only time he has behavioral issues is when he is at the daycare. This is because the staff isn't able to accommodate his needs. There has been times when both my children have been sent home with soiled diapers and pull-ups. My son blood on him because the staff was unable to handle when my son was injured and clean him up properly. There has been times when the staff were not paying attention to my son and had other children put before him. This has led to him getting hurt or other students. The scheduling isn't flexible. The only benefit is they have space and the prices aren't too high if you have care 4 kids. I would not bring children here if they need extra accommodations or special needs.
