Building my first home with this company has been a nightmare. They quoted us 6 months to build the house. I expected a delay but what was unexpected was when it took double the quoted time to build the house. This is not a large house, it is a 1400 sq/ft starter home! During the build they switched sales reps. The new one was a sarcastic, rude, unhelpful, jerk, who drove friends of ours away from buying homes with Homexx. I almost wish he was our sales rep, so that we had never built with them. The blamed everyone but themselves for the delay. Trades, Weather, and they apparently went through several site supers who managed the development "poorly" and they told us the new site super that was taking over was supposed to "clean up the disaster". He did not last very long and we only met him on our possession walk through. We finalized our build decisions and choices on November 2013, once we finally did take possession on October 29, 2014 the real problems started. We started dealing with their Service Coordinator. She was next to impossible to reach and when we finally did get a hold of her, she told us things were "scheduled to be finished in the next couple weeks" two weeks later when nothing had been done we would call back and she would blame the site super and say she was not the one that scheduled the trades but she would refuse to give us his contact information. She would tell us she would speak to him and get back to us but then we would not hear from her for weeks. When we got in touch with her the cycle would start all over again. "its scheduled to be completed in the next couple of weeks" nothing would get done, call in two weeks, and she would blame the site super. ARE YOU KIDDING!??? This company's customer service is atrocious. They couldn't be bothered to answer any questions you might have and it feels like a fight to get any level of commitment from them just to do what I paid them to do. It's a good thing I'm handy because I have resorted to fixing all the issues myself just so they get done at all, let alone in a timely manner. For example, it is now August 2015 and the front of our house has finally been painted. I can't even imagine what it would cost someone who isn't capable of doing repairs and renovations themselves. The only person who has ever been able to provide us with any answers was their sales manager. And getting in touch with her took a review on their facebook page and a complaint with the better business bureau. Take my advice. DO NOT BUILD WITH HOMEXX HOMES. read more

To: Any future home buyer This is not a sales pitch, or us simply writing kind words in the form of a referral. This is me and my wife simply telling a story of how we purchased our home and why. We were expecting our first child, living in a basement with two big dogs and on the hunt for a home for our growing family. We had just made a verbal agreement with a salesman from another company for a lot in a different development, that salesman went on vacation and our lot was sold to someone else. This made us decide to buy a previously owned home instead of having one built; we simply went into the Homexx show home to get interior design ideas. Immediately we noticed the difference in Danny's approach, he simply introduced himself let us walk around and come ask him questions when we were done. The house was not what we initially liked, the lots were not what we were looking for, and so our initial interest was very low. Danny sat with us and it never felt like he was selling us, he simply explained how we could work together and customize our home to fit our description of "a perfect home". Not only is Danny extremely knowledgeable and helpful, he goes above and beyond any imaginable expectation one could have. He put up with tears, our stress, our worries (like I said a very stressful time to be building a home), and he really guided us from the moment we stepped foot into the show home until the moment we received the key and continues to the day to assist us. I never thought I could form a bond with a stranger the way I have with Danny, he has mastered not just the salesman aspect of his job, but the overall being a great person aspect that not many people have. We were so fortunate to have had Danny guide us in the right direction, his work ethic reflects who he is, and his dedication and commitment is something that will never be forgotten. He met us when my wife was pregnant and has watched our daughter grow and learn to walk in his show home! We were probably the most annoying clients, Danny showed up on my phone bill as one of my most contacted people... above my wife! But he always made us feel welcome to drop by, or call, or email. Regardless how many clients he had, or if he had prior commitments he always made us feel like we were a priority. Like I said this is not a sales pitch, if you are fortunate enough to choose Danny Perreault you will not regret it, and he will raise the standards for service in your life I guarantee that! There is something refreshing about honesty. I recently met a lady in West Haven Park in Leduc who didn't try and tell me everything I wanted was possible, on the other hand she took the time to explain, why it might not be. The "good and the bad". When she asked me to rate her I gave her a 10 out of 10 for the hoesty, cantor and insight. Every builder has their ups and downs, their pluses and minuses and all will at some point in time go through a rough patch. I was raised to know there are two sides to every story so I am proud to say I not only read the reviews but further investigated for myself. I met with several builders in my search decided on Homexx as our builder, they were open and honest when I asked about the past problems and spoke to me of the improvements they have made to correct the issues. I found their staff to be a pleasure to deal with and thank them for the time they spent teaching me how to maintain my new home. Homexx Corporation has been a very unprofessional and frustrating builder to deal with. I can't say I would never recommend them. For the most part our salesperson was good to deal with. But I do feel he was untruthful (intentionally or unintentionally) to us when saying the company was really good at repairing any concerns we might have. And not to worry as they have the best trade's people working for them We had problems with the vendors where we were sent to for our appliances, cabinetry, flooring and our home phone/cable wiring. Some were just out right rude and others tried charging us for what should have been part of our package. I do have to say our salesperson did transfer our file to different vendors on two occasions. We have had nothing but problems with the quality of the workmanship. Each problem has taken many emails and usually more than one person to fix the problem. Most issues took many visits. We had at least 1-5 (sometimes even more) problems every month for the first year. Our problems and concerns have been ignored or dismissed, we were even told to put in a claim with the new home owners warranty program. (After paying the $100 fee for the claim the program reviewed the problem and Homexx had to fix it.) It didn't matter if it was a small issue (grout) or a major one (garage floor). Homexx rarely took responsibility for the trade's people's poor workmanship (these are the people they hired, the same ones they claim are the best). We continue to have problems but are now having to pay to have them fixed out of our own pockets, some of them are the ones that were ignored or dismissed. The one key person who I have to say never lied to us or brushed us off was our site superintendent. He really was great to deal with. Again, this is one company I would never recommend building with. At no point am I saying don't build with them I'm just saying I would never recommend them. I do suggest you do your homework, check out BBB, home builder review sites along with JD Power. I wish we would have taken a better look, we thought we did A couple big pieces of advice for anyone building a home... please review the new home owners warranty program guidelines as that is what they (well at least Homexx) will say is "industry standard". It's not really the "standard" it's the norm as it is not government regulated. Hire a company to come out and do a home inspection prior to your final builder visit. (They found a problem that was not up to spec.) This was something Homexx's maintenance person never bothered to even look at. read more

Overall, we had a positive experience with Homexx and would recommend them as a builder. The issues we had were mostly cosmetic and were fixed in a timely manner. They were receptive to changes we wanted to make throughout the building process. After we took possession we did have some frustrating issues in communicating with the service department. But Don, the Service Manager, reorganized the service process and has gone above and beyond to get our issues dealt with. One morning we had a problem with our dead bolt on our door and he personally came out to fix it that afternoon. After all the visits Don feels like good family friend. My only complaint would be the trades sometimes don't do a good job cleaning up after themselves, but I'm satisfied with the overall quality of workmanship. read more

This was the first home I have ever built and Homexx has made it such a good experience. Right from the start dealing with Danny and Tamara in the planning stages, right through the building stages with Max, the whole process was dream. With the show homes and the dekor showroom available to see what products were available, it really made it easy to envision what our house would look like. Every detail, every question that I had was answered and delt with in such a way that really made me feel like I mattered in the whole process. It has been a year since we moved in and the very few issues that I needed to have fixed were fixed promptly thanks to the help of Don in the service department. When we first started looking for a house, we didn't know what builder we were going to go to. We didn't know we would end up choosing a custom builder, but I am 100% glad we chose Homexx. The process was so easy, from picking our lot, to picking the floor plans and picking out where we wanted things to be. My husband is a garage man, and we wanted to make sure that he was getting what he wanted as this was our dream home. The customization that we had to do was amazing. There was so much that we didn't know that we would need to pick out, every little detail was taken into consideration and our input was required each step of the way. Tamara at the Dekor center is amazing, she helped us find the colors we wanted and which tiles, carpet, flooring, grout (yes, we needed to choose that color too), to counter tops to make sure that everything looked cohesive and matched well together. Everything was taken care of. There was such a variety of types of materials we could choose, it just wasn't your standard 4 colors. The paint wheel was endless, everything was. It was such an easy experience and she made it that much more enjoyable. Danny, our sales guy. I cannot say enough good things about him. He answered our calls and texts so promptly, and was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied. To getting us quotes on things we wanted to customize to giving us suggestions to make our dream that much more of a reality. It was so easy. He went above and beyond for us, and we are truly so grateful. He brought the ideas we had and put them into motion. And made sure we were okay with the decisions that were being made to continue building. From start to finish I can say this was the best decision we have made. Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable. It was such a pleasant experience, and the dedicated team we had made purchasing, building, designing our dream home just wonderful. My husband and I recently completed our 4th home with Homexx Corp. It was a very rewarding and enjoyable experience having our vision of a custom build coming to fruition. It started with Danny Pererault in the showhome in Harvest Ridge in Spruce Grove. He was both professional and helpful in getting our creation off the ground. Danny was a amazing sales person -he took the time and helped us immensely Homexx purchased the lot we found in the country, and then built a home on it for us. We were able to stay in our home until it was built. The owner of the company met us, along with the surveyors at the site. He helped us decide the elevation, and location of the house. From there the lovely Tamara in the design center was so incredibly helpful, and professional. She assisted me in making great decisions once she saw the direction I was heading color wise, she was gracious and lovely. Thank you so much Tamara. You were truly so very helpful. ( just a side note, I changed my mind numerous times regarding paint color, fixtures etc for the interior, a big " no no" with other builders. Smitty in the office was always cheerful and very helpful, very professional and always willing to help. Thank you so much Smitty. You are a big plus to Homexx. Chris the site super was helpful and efficient. He kept us informed all through the build. It was so helpful in keeping things running smoothly. He was always available when ever I had a question. Being our first experience building a new home my husband and I were feeling a little overwhelmed with the process at first but Homexx took great care of us and we have ended up with a beautiful home that we love!
