You need to purchase food tickets because the food vendors do not take cash. We decided to check things out before buying and tickets... so many different times of food.. the smell alone was amazing! Lot's of samples to be had before purchasing. I had bought some fresh made bread and stuffed potatoes so good! I got to try the samosa.. supper crispy and cuban pulled pork, They had a lot of water actives going on, mostly for the kids. Lot's of spraying water toys and balloons everywhere. But with the weather being so warm it was refreshing. There was a few stages with a daily schedule. We got to hear a poetry slam with four people that were very talented and really made you think. Also some dancers with beautiful outfits on. Could only spend about and hour and a half here, but it was great. Love how the community all gets together to celebrate the things we all love like food and entertainment.

This is a fabulous event where people of all ages, nationalities, cultures, and ethnicities unite for good food, good music, good performances, and a good time. Everything was amazing, though the Ethiopian spot was definitely a crowd favorite. I look forward to attending again next year with more friends (we brought some). My only critique is that the Cuban place that participated the last couple years wasn't there (I didn't see them). :(

This was a very cute little festival! It wasn't really what I expected out of a 'Fall Festival'…read morethough, more of a downsized art festival with a few added elements at the Teddy Roosevelt Inaugural Site. There were a pretty fair handful of vendors though, displaying some pretty awesome stuff that I've never seen before (and some that I had). I mostly enjoyed the young man who refurbishes antique typewriters, and Mermaid and Weasel had some freaking adorable pierogi keychains. I got suckered into some African shea butter that will no doubt get a ton of use with the coming winter months, as well as a print from the always awesome Buffalo History Buff. The bands they got to play here were fantastic too! A new favorite of mine, The Observers, definitely gathered a crowd. I really enjoyed listening to the musicians I've never heard of before, too. I think it was busy enough that they should have found a few more vendors to display their wares since there was a lot of empty space by the stage toward Allen & N. Pearl. But other than that, I really enjoyed myself here! I hope it keeps getting better and better every year.

There were "bleachers" through out the festival. I feel this was a great thing. It one gave more options for people to sit down, eat and relax. Which I think in turn cleared alot of space up. We walked through the festival for over three hours and not once felt crowded, and I really think that's because of all the new resting spots. I always get the family tickets from tops ahead of time, then collect the tickets from the tent. Always an easy process, shorter lines. Average good was going for 8 to 10 tickets, same as previous years so I did not see any increase there. And most had a 4 ticket sample item as well. Loved the variety..trying new restaurants. Entertainment is always spot on, that hasn't changed either. Just a good food festival..this year weather was perfect for it as well.

Pro tip: buy your tickets at TOPS before the festival. They're cheaper, and you get (non-alcoholic) drink coupons to use ar the fest. Our favorite this year was Nickel City Vice's "You're Nuts," a peanut butter cheesecake ice cream sandwich. The boys nearly died laughing when I went up to place our order and asked the guy, "Can I have You're Nuts?" We also happily demolished small FREE bags of Checkers & Rally's fries, some ethic eats, and Buffalo classics (Nick Charlap's custard, Just Pizza). The Taste of Buffalo is one of those events that reminds you how many great local restaurants and food businesses we have.

This could've been improved by adding a 4-way stop in front of the parking lot entrances, or to have someone directing traffic. There were a lot of vendors, but I agree with other reviews that actual vegetable options and healthy options were limited. It was a lot of made to order imitation meat items. However I still had a good time. The best meals I ate were a vegan gyro from Grass Fed in Rochester which was outstanding. I also had a jackfruit bbq sandwich from Guud and Evul in Tonawanda, which was also very tasty. I got some date bars and date cinnamon rolls from Date'd (Buffalo) which were incredible as well. Overall, I'd come back again and would love to continue to discover local vendors with vegan products.

Free parking was a nice perk. As per the vendor set-up, it could have been better. Lines were long, and snaked into each other. With the popularity of this festival apparently growing, it would have been nice if vendors could have spread out into other parts of the grounds. I was also disappointed with the lack of actual vegetables at Veg Fest. Sure, all of the foods are vegan and completely made out of plants. BUT all of the foods were also very unhealthy. Just because something is vegan doesn't make it healthy. Everything at Veg Fest was sugar-shock-carbo-loaded junk food. As a keto'tarian (I eat low carb and low sugar), I actually didn't eat anything. At least one vendor with an actual salad or vegetable dish of some sort would have been nice at Veg Fest. I mean, "Veg" is in the name. One suggestion--add a farmers market to the festival. I would have loved to purchase local produce at Veg Fest!! Sell Veg Fest reusable bags at the farmers market, and I would have been thrilled to fill up a keepsake bag with fresh food grown in our area. And I bet others would too!! So yes, this is a festival, and festivals are usually decadent, rich, indulgent gluttony. Veg Fest is no different. But in the context of this festival, that seems like a lost opportunity to me. Yes, junk food is probably more of a gateway-tastebuds-drug to lure people over to the plant life. And if that happens, that is great!! But a better balance at Veg Fest of both unhealthy festival foods and whole and healthy foods would really showcase everything that going Veg has to offer.

Fantastic community space and art gallery!…read more I spontaneously ended up here on a Friday night for the Loryn Spangler-Jones art opening; I didn't know what to expect and walked in to check out a large two-story space. It seemed like the bottom floor was more of a store with past artists work for sale, so I made my way up and was enthusiastically greeted by Loryn herself. The artist was a great host -- let me know of the complimentary pizza (from Gino's NY next door) available and to help myself to any beer or wine. Nice! I enjoyed walking around the space and taking in her work and chatting with her afterward about her experience coming to Buffalo. Visiting the gallery was akin to visiting a good friend's house - everyone was friendly and welcoming and it was a joyous way to spend a Friday night. The space itself has infinite raw potential and Don, the owner -- seemed to be very open to collaborating and using his space for various projects. The lighting here is great as well; able to be manipulated to create a unique and moody ambiance. Loved to be able to finally check it out.

Patrons dined on both levels of the beautifully lit gallery and feasted on some of Martha's finest Peruvian faire thus far. My absolute favorites were the Seco de Tofu, Cau Cau, and Escabeche de Tilapia. I also enjoyed the Aji de Gallina. Everyone seemed to agree that the Papa Rellena (Stuffed Potatoes) were the star appetizer. As a seafood lover I really enjoyed the Ceviche while the dessert lovers dove into the Purple Pudding. Pop-up events such as this one give the community an opportunity to preview what's coming. As Buffalo stakes its claim as one of the most diverse ethnic food and restaurant centers in the country we hope to see more events like these. On the horizon for these two event hosts: Don & Diann Zintek will be renaming their gallery as simply "1045" in the very near future. Martha Sosa and Pure Peru will be having their soft opening to the long awaited "first" Peruvian restaurant in Buffalo located at the West Side Bazaar making it the home to 4 ethnic restaurants. Job well done and good luck to Don Zinteck of ZGM (1045) and to Martha Sosa of Pure Peru for a great and tasty event. For those who missed it - keep your eye on the West Side Bazaar.
