There are multiple poop bag dispensers as well as trash cans and a very nice covered gazebo area with nice picnic tables underneath it on both sides of the dog park. They also have benches strategically placed all around the park for you to sit on as well as a very nice watering facility. You park right next to the dog park and you can easily walk around the interior of the fence line it looks very well-maintained and there are not a lot of biological landmines which is always important!! Both have an agility course you can practice with, spigots for water, large bowls/plastic kiddie pools to hold water in, and plenty of benches. There are some shade. The trail is so west TX with mesquite trees and dry dirt everywhere. We saw a cute quail flying by and then scurrying across the trail. The dogs loved it and there's also a dog park for them across the street. The nature center is also next to a golf course. It was a great start to our day and beautiful watching the sun rise.

Whether you make your whole road trip about coming to this awesome state park,…read moreor just make it part of another trip like we did, you have to come to Monahans Sandhills and rent a sand disc from the visitor center (or bring your own) to sled down the sand dunes with your friends or family. This was my daughter's #1 memory from our whole trip and we spent 3 days in Big Bend - but apparently sledding down the sand dunes beat out all the cool hikes and stuff we saw (she's still talking about it). Honestly, this was so affordable and could be hours and hours of fun, along with the beautiful desert views that you could enjoy on hikes. Probably not as fun in 100+ degree temps, but being there around the New Year was amazing. 10/10 place to stop and have a ton of fun!

Beer cans always in the parking lot near here. Trash everywhere. Dog owners not picking up after their canines. Sticker patches in the large dog area - huge ones that I noticed they tried to weed whack down, but the damn things are still all over the ground. I walk a 75-pound pitbull here often early mornings and constantly see other dogs not on leashes. They run immediately towards us. It's always small dogs. Makes me nervous because I never want to see this sweet girl get provoked. When you face the entrance, the small dog area is over to the left. A communal area is in the middle. Large dog area is to the right. All of them have separate fencing and gates. Don't come here in the evenings when all the youngsters are revving up their engines and trying to be cool nearby. It's a late night hangout for them. PROS + the gates are set up nicely + dog waste stations + obstacle courses + free, ample parking within walking distance + one water station in the communal area

One - often the washing machines and/or dryers are out of service and with a family of six that can be frustrating. Two - the water was shut off one evening and there wasn't communication to the tenants affected and did not end up getting resolved until almost midnight. Given it was 40 degrees, I wasn't going to take myself or my toddler and infant to the showers available within the park. Three - we had an issue with a VERY rude employee but luckily her poor behavior was addressed and is no longer an issue. This was a HUGE step up from the park we stayed in previously and I will definitely be back to bring my boys in to visit because they love everyone.

It has a very nice double-gated concrete entry area as well as a nice concrete pad with a shade structure and a picnic table in both the big and small dog park. Although the first portion of the dog park is my favorite astro turf!! It is done quite nicely and certainly keeps the gate area from getting muddy. But it is very important that you pick up after your dog because it shows up real quick on the astro turf. Half the dog park is just natural ground covering with a few little hills for your dog to run up and down as well as a few trees for them to run around. There are multiple poop bag dispensers hidden around the park as well as a very nice water feature. Parking is right in front of the dog park. Searching for true love and forgiveness? The park was constructed or dedicated for children with special needs, so it is made very accommodating and accessible for wheel chairs, and the swings are like chairs to be secure and comforting. There are plenty of plays for the kids of different ages, pretty colorful, and the weather is best after 7 pm, beware of the mosquitos though there are quite a few to bite you over there!
