The is a family owned business, small business owner. We had planned to go there for months and finally made to the only Sunday they're open. Winery offering sweet, fruity, white, red, rose, and port wine. Several different tastings to choose from otherwise you can choose whatever to drink. Tasting cost $11 for 3 samples. We chatted with the owner and she was super friendly, almost as though we're friends. Outside bar and chairs are available to hangout, and there's inside chairs and bar too. Nice to see a family owned business. The winery is in a residential neighborhood. They do have grape vines growing surrounding the tasting patio and in their very large backyard property which is nice to look at while sipping your wine. The wine is fruity but we enjoyed them. Please note in the spring, summer and fall you need to use the portable toilet outside, no access into their tasting room. read more

I went with friends after buying a Groupon. One member of our party was refused service due to restrictions on their driver's license, but we still got the full value of the Groupon after dickering with the owner. I'm all for woman-owned businesses and small private companies working to make a go of things, but I was disappointed that my friend could not participate...especially since her husband would have liked to come along on the Groupon deal. It's the law though, and I understand that the owner has to protect her business. We had to wait until other people in front of us had finished their tastings, even though we had a reservation as required on the Groupon. The Oximoron was the group favorite. They have some really cute additional wine-related items for sale if you want to spend some additional money on souvenirs. read more

Walking into their tasting parlour nearly knocked me over with the smell of last night's beer festival. Odd, since they do wine here, not beer. We gave our discounted coupon to someone at the cash register and she quickly explained what we would receive. We were given our wine glasses and several wooden tokens to be redeemed for samples and also for one full pouring. Seemed frenetic up at their tasting counter. Shoulder to shoulder customers with two, at times three, people behind the counter pouring measured samples of their wines. No room for us at the counter, so we sat down at an open table with our wine glasses, a small sheet of paper listing the names of each of the wines they produce and a larger tasting menu that described the grapes and the flavors of each of their wines. Together, we sampled each of their white, rose and red wines, and also one of their port-style wines and a few fruit wines. Overall, I liked their red wine made with concord grapes - it tasted like sweet grape juice. It would be great with a peanut butter sandwich or a big bowl of popcorn. It would have been a more memorable experience had we had the chance to talk with the person/people cultivating the vines and making the wine. We may as well have been at some wine bar tasting different wines. The best part of our visit came after we'd sampled all we were going to sample. We selected our full pour glass of wine and went outside to sit on their patio and enjoy the sunshine in a pair of Adirondack chairs. A moment later, another couple came outside to sit in the other pair of chairs and sample their wine. We all struck up a conversation with each other and spent quite some time getting to know one another. It was lovely making new friends! read more

Woman owned, hometown winery! Nice charming little spot for the tastings, cute Decor and a nice patio. Staff are attentive and helpful even on the very busy summer day when we were there. Overall the wine isn't very good. Lots of fruit wines which aren't my favorite. Reds are not strong bodied at all. But they are a new establishment with new grapes so I will continue to see what they can do! read more

DON'T MISS Buffalo Rock Winery - Buffalo, MN This small winery packs a big punch that starts with the feisty owner, Nicole. This woman will NEVER bore you. Her wines may not make the history list (yet) but she offers so much more. She is willing to push the limit, experiment with varietals, blends and humors. Her Oximoron wine is a nice red blend of MN Grapes that dances across your tongue, pinches your cheek and then asks you to come back for more. Served at different temperatures this wine will change your mind every time. We love her truth to MN Grapes. Hey - we have a corner on that market why not run with it!! My favorite Brianna grape is slow to be found still in MN and her Sota Sun is an up and coming tribute to this grape. A few more tweeks and get rid of the OAK (YUCK) and we will have a masterpiece. Get a map. Take some friends. I promise you - you will enjoy the entire experience. Just wait until Spring thaw has settle the ground.... don't ask. PS - this lovely little spitfire is also a huge asset to her community so who wouldn't want to see her succeed! read more

After recently moving to the area my husband and I stopped in to check the place out on a whim when we saw the sign. We had our two children with us so we weren't planning on trying the wine yet but figured we'd come back another time without the kids if we liked it. The owner and another gal were attending the counter and there were no other customers at the time. The owner never smiled, never offered us wine, and was overall rude. It was an awkward and disappointing experience! Unfathomable really that the owner would want to give off a such a negative vibe to potential customers. Won't ever go back and it's too bad because we really enjoy wine. read more

If you don't mind your winery experience to be in a pole barn in someone's backyard, this may be for you. The wine list is extensive, but we had a difficult time finding any we would buy. Many fruit-flavored wines. When we asked to go walk to the grapes, there was some hesitation by the staff as if they'd rather we didn't. Yay for small-winery charm and woman-owned and operated MN businesses!!!! BR is one of my favorite wineries in MN and western WI - I can't even say how many times I've visited, it's been so many! They produce many different kinds of wine, lots of fruit wines too, so for me who likes sweeter wine, this is the spot! The Dottie's Angel has been well received by ANY wine drinker I've shared this with, no matter if they normally like dry or sweet, and Oximoron is my personal favorite, even though I normally like whites best. Nicole, the owner, is a great hostess who goes above and beyond with info about each wine they make. The tasting room is filled with personal touches (like the wine barrel bar) and has plenty of seating if the counter is full (which by the way means BR is busy, which is an awesome thing for small, local business!). Bring your girlfriends, bring your spouse, bring your partner, just get your butt to Buffalo Rock and relax in an unpretentious place where you can enjoy wine tasting without feeling like a peasant. On my most recently trip to Minnesota I had the pleasure of visiting the tasting room at Buffalo Rock Winery. It was a wonderful experience! I live in Washington where wineries run rampant, so I was impressed to find such a gem in the Midwest. The tasting room was busy when we arrived but it didn't stop the wine maker from introducing herself and talking about her wines. For under $5 we received 8 tastes. The wines are delicious and I'm excited to serve the wine I purchased at an upcoming dinner party. The tasting room was clean and visually appealing with a friendly small-winery charm that is uncommon (though quite welcome) to find in the often snooty world of wineries. My wife, myself and another couple who met us at BRW had a wonderful time. Reasonably priced with a nice variety of wines. After chatting with the owner, I was impressed with the time and energy she has invested in following her passion. I'm not quite sure what smell the first commenter is speaking of, we didn't experience anything similar at all. Personally, I thought the college fund jars were a pretty creative idea. Overall, it was a pleasant way to spend a few hours in the afternoon, a quick drive into the country, some good wines and a nice way to relax. read more

What a great find in Buffalo! A great experience with personality and wine to boot! The staff tells you about each wine. The tasting is a great value. Nicole is easy to work with and very involved in the community! We welcome the tourist attraction to the Buffalo area. I love many of the wines.
