Very happy with this KinderCare. My five month old adapted really quickly and all the teachers are very kind. Love it.

I started my daughter here when she was the ripe old age of 3.5 months old. To say I was a nervous…read moreand hesitant Rookie Mom would be an understatement! Now that my daughter is about to turn one year old, I've been reflecting on the past year and felt it was due time to give credit where credit is due. Upon enrollment, both administration and teachers encouraged my breastfeeding. This was incredibly important because as any Breastfeeding or a Pumping Mom knows, it is a commitment and labor of love! They were welcome to pick up and drop off feeding sessions, which was incredibly helpful when transitioning back to full time employment. My daughter has flourished in the Infant Montessori environment. The children are given the freedom to roam the room - which she adores! When I pick her up she is happy and smiling, interacting with the other babies and teachers. It is so apparent that the teachers adore the students as well! I am completely comfortable knowing she is so well taken care of. I can't ever express enough gratitude to the staff at BGMS. If I can't be a SAHM, this is the most ideal alternative. I can only hope more people are able to have the experience I have! We are planning to keep our daughter at Buffalo Grove Montessori through Kindergarten. The staff is competent, qualified and above all, good people and educators. We love it here!

The admin staff are very friendly and helpful to answer your questions at anytime. They truly practice Montessori principles and our kid learnt a ton of good habits and independence in a very short period of time. Highly recommended to parents looking for a Montessori preschool in NW suburbs of IL.

We followed the Director, Sarah, here from the Northbrook location something like SIX YEARS AGO…read morewhere she had been serving as the assistant director. She is phenomenal and even if you do not put much stock into reviews in general, the proof should be we followed her to an entirely new school and now have our third child at the school... by the time we are done with this one we will have been with Sarah almost ten years! This Gardner School is fantastic. It starts with the leadership at the top and is felt all the way down, but you cannot miss the attention to the detail and just how great this school is. First, they are great with the kids. Seems basic, but needs to be said. From the 2 rooms through every room we have experienced the teachers and staff know how to make kids happy, healthy, safe, smart, etc. Second, the actual programs at this school are unmatched. The core programs in the classes are fantastic and are some of the best planned out things I have seen any school offer for kids this young. Not only that, but the extracurricular actives offered are diverse and awesome. The new assistant director has been excellent putting together these programs and provides awesome photos/videos. Yes... they do cost extra money, but (a) you easily get the value out of it, (b) you get to expose your kid(s) to things you may not have the time to outside of school because of things like work and (c) the kids love them. Third (and I'll make it last), the communication is unbeatable. I cannot oversell this! The staff and teachers are always receptive to conversations, feedback, etc. (I talk to Sarah more than I talk to my mom)... and the teachers are great with the app they use. Even if something doesn't go accordingly to plan at the School it isn't a complete disaster because the School actually communicates with you and you feel fully in the loop. The pictures, updates, etc. on the app make getting through the work day so much easier. Anyway, as a growing family we have moved from Morton Grove to Highland Park and have experienced different daycares/Schools. All have positives, but the Gardner School is far in away the best school ever. This location in particular has something special about it! There is literally no one in my life I wouldn't recommend this school to. No one asked me to write this review, but I really do feel passionately about the school and want to support it in anyway I can. Best decision you will ever make.

Will invite you to school tours to waste your time and give you pre-longed dates to join the facility so you are her backup plan to make money if someone runs away due to her shitty attitude!!! Also, will ask you to join the waiting list with arrogance like there's no other educational institution out there. Must say loved her fake eyelashes though and she can go on for hours talking about them! Stay away from stuck up people and this facility for ur own good!

Tamarak Country School and Day Camp - She's got the tamarak spirit

Tamarak Country School and Day Camp

Or at least visiting a lot! When I first checked out Tamarak it reminded me a lot of overnight camp. Lots of greenery and just plain fun! I decided last August that I was going to enroll my daughter in their munchkin program for this summer. As this summer approached I got a little nervous because wasn't sure she was ready to leave the doors of her nurturing pre- school, take a bus to camp and stay all day long. It turns out she was more than ready and I can't imagine her having a better summer than she did at Tamarak. She loved her counselors (shout out to Faith who runs the munchkin program along with Jess, Isabel, Hillary and sam for putting up with her and many other 4 yr olds each day). She loved the activities (swimming & arts and crafts her personal faves). And most of all she loved the bus ride to and from camp, which opened her eyes (or ears) to many more music options. The price of Tamarak alone was worth getting to switch out the kiddie music in my car for Taylor swift and Katy Perry. Tamarak has open visitation. I expected to take advantage of it many times throughout the summer but between work and the rest of life just made it there once. However, I was so impressed by the camp based on that 1 visit: it was well organized, the kids were safe and it just looked like so much fun. My daughter cried when I told her she'd be going back to the "tough life of pre school in the fall" because she wants to stay at tamarak year round. I'd like to be at camp year round too, but at least she's lucky enough to have a summer at tamarak next year and beyond.

My 2 girls have wildly different personalities one introverted and creative, the other extroverted and focused. The former needed more support from the Tamarak teachers and she received it. She is no longer afraid to speak out. She really loves school. This is a metamorphosis to me and I feel a significant portion of this change can be attributed to the teachers at Tamarak. The teachers set goals for the girls and worked with us on techniques that we could use at home to help them. The day is broken up into big group, small group and individual choice education & play. They focus on literacy, letters and math concepts as well as social aspects of learning. Both of my girls were completely prepared for kindergarten. Tamarak offers additional learning opportunities in programs like GIFT, and STARs. We took advantage of GIFT this year, which extended the day from 2 1/2 hrs to 5 hrs (lunch is included). These extra classes offer benefits. 1) It prepared my youngest for full day kindergarten (first one didn't have it and full day kindergarten was a shock to the system for her) 2) extra learning opportunities in geography, and the one that impressed me the most was public speaking and presentations. This may sound like too much...I thought it would have been, but....the kids to so well! The got to talk about something they liked doing and in this non-threatening environment....they had no problem talking to the class. The school has several outdoor play areas and an indoor gym for rainy/cold days. They care a great deal about the health of the kids, plenty of hand washing :) Lucia, the director, is a force. She is really really a great director. She is responsive to suggestion and a fabulous leader. We will be back for summer camp next summer for sure.
