The wait list becomes very deceptive when you have a "buyer" girl who wouldn't stop talking to each person in great details about herself. Literally each person. So annoyed. Went to sell a few clothes (including brand new Reformation dress with tags on, CK Blazer, LuluLemon, etc). Thankfully didn't need the money desperately but was hoping for something somewhat worth the amount they cost (ie Ref dress was $218+ tax new). They literally stood there gaslighting me, telling me they could only sell the brand new Reformation dress for $30 (saw an uglier Ref dress, clearly worn with tags off on the racks being asking $65 so there was no way they were planning to sell my brand new one for less than that). Based on valuations of the way they sold other things in the store, I could tell they did the same with the other items (nike shirt, $10, mesh shirt $6 and Lulu lemon skirt $10). They were clearly just lying as part of their process. thankfully I don't need the money but I also know what it is to be treated with respect and BE's process is anything but that. My sister was also shocked at how cheeky they were saying they could only offer me $8 for a brand new Reformation dress. I knew I could sell it for at $50-$70 on FB marketplace so I just took my things there instead. I would never recommend BE just for their ethics alone (clearly nonexistent). I feel like I always end up in a Buffalo Exchange somehow. I came across this location on the way to brunch. Thrifting has gotten kinda weird lately because a lot of items are just fast fashion being resold. I saw some shirts from brands I wouldn't expect to be repriced for $24... Thankfully, I saw a Find Me Now dress in the corner of my eye and it was my size! While I would've sized up if this was an option I was getting directly from the brand, it works for a Y2K tunic aesthetic look. I'll probably style it with a belt. The accessories were unique! I saw cool sunglasses and earrings that I could see myself wearing. The staff was quick with check-out. I wish their sale section was more obvious. I ended up seeing it (and something I liked) after checking out. It wasn't worth getting back in line. read more

Great store! Has a nice selection of different brands that are all reasonably priced. I got 2 items from there, one being a skims hoodie which I was super happy about. Has a nice little section near the front where the cashiers are that has an array of jewelry, bracelets, rings, etc. If you enjoy thrifting it's definitely worth checking out. read more

They're digging through bags pricing items on what THEIR bias is for the item. Brought brand new priced items from SoHo and she priced it at 30 dollars I had to make her go to 40... she needs professional help and a real career sorry but you would never catch me at a second rate second hand trash shop. I've been to Buffalo Exchange several times and this time I'm returning to sell my clothes. It was a pretty smooth experience since you can join the waitlist from their website or scan the QR code in person. There wasn't anyone in line before me so the staff promptly asked for my info and clothes. As with other shops, they really are looking for clothes/styles/brands that sell well at their store. You can get either 50% store credit or 25% cash out. Staff were pretty quick with their assessments and helpful when answering my questions. From the buying side, their clothes aren't as organized as other thrift shops in the area so you really have to dig. I think there are more shoes here. Prices are slightly more affordable imo but also double check the quality/cleanliness of your pieces. read more

I was at the playground across the street and the Buffalo was calling me in... It was crowded but I liked the organization system they tried to follow. I easily found t-shirts which is what I was looking for right at the front of the small location. They were separated by size but oddly enough not in small. No small t-shirts?! How can that be? Also, as I was looking for t-shirts for myself I did find an epic Stone Cold Steve Austin T for my husband but it was clearly in the wrong area. I walked out with two t's. Despite the mostly negative reviews posted about this location, I was actually very pleased with the service and efficiency with selling my clothes here! YES: they have a particular style and they're not going to give you a ton of money for what they do buy-but that is to be expected at a buy/trade/resale store. And yes, you're probably going to get 1/5 of what you paid for the item originally. BUT they have a good system and get you in and out pretty quickly. At this location in particular, they review all of the items in front of you, so you don't have to wait. The staff on this particular day were also very kind and enjoyable to talk to. read more

Absolutely love this location. Have been a few time. I feel like the selection is always broad and you're 100% going to find what you want. Customer service wise- don't expect much. Kara, at the register, was super sweet, as well as two other employees. It was only one person with darker long hair, back by the dressing rooms making everyone on edge. It may be policy to turn people away from the fitting rooms 15 minutes before close, but you can at least be nice. I get it, you want to go home. But it's your JOB, so get over yourself. We stepped behind the employee area (that had no boundary) and it set off attitude #2. They made the experience TERRIBLE. We immediately put back things we weren't sure on, and left. Made such a fun night into an uncomfortable situation. YOU ARE OPEN TIL 8. If you can't deal with that, please find a new career and do not make other people feel terrible for being in the shop. read more

Racists. On several occasions I attempted to sell very good quality items to them. Flat out said we pass. Waited several days and had a White friend take them in and sold. The staff have a lot of prejudice against non whites. Black folks ask your Caucasian friends to do the deal for you. Avoid the aggravation and micro-aggression. Took a five minute walk around the corner to Crossroads. Two buyers researched all of my items. Consulted with me about consignment for higher value. Bought every last single item that the dim-witted buyer at Buffalo Exchange flat out rejected. A much more dignified and gratifying experience. I will NEVER step foot in a Buffalo Exchange store. I know I buy and maintain good stuff!!! I will definitely secret shop them and prove racial discrimination, by having a Black person walk in to sell and after a rejection have a Caucasian colleague try and sell the same items. This particular store ranks low on the list of buffalo exchanges in the city. Pretty poor selection. Expect to find b-grade mall brands with prices higher than what you'd see these items for at the clearance rack. Layout of this store is the worst part. You can't get around the racks (which are overloaded to a fault) without scraping past a dozen other shoppers. There's not good spot to wait in line, and don't even try wearing in a backpack or bringing a shopping bag from another spot. read more

I came in to sell some clothes, and they told me I had to have an appointment and that they didn't have any openings until tomorrow. I am extremely covid conscious so I understand this, but there was no one else there. I filled a huge suitcase with clothes carried it down my fourth floor walk up, and walked five blocks to bring it to Buffalo Exchange. During this process, one of the wheels fell off. So no, I was not going to go through all this trouble again. The people at Buffalo Exchange saw me struggling and still wouldn't see me, even though no one was there. Reality 3.5 Buying - I've been coming to this BE for almost a decade. A lot of my favourite pieces are from here, but so are a lot of things I've bought and regretted. (More of a reflection on me tbh.) Let's start with the good. It's relatively organized. Occasionally the racks are overstuffed, and shifty through everything is impossible. But maybe there isn't a lot of storage in the store. The place is small -- so if you're serious about shopping come prepared. Bring a small bag, light clothing, and hands that are readily movable. It's best to come on a weekday, Thursdays and Wednesdays have been the best for me. The middle of the day 3pm is fine almost every day. Keep in mind they don't give bags, so you can buy one or cram your purchases into your own bag. The people who work here are nice but aside from the freshies. Occasionally they get NYU freshman to work here and god they are always obnoxious and unhelpful. I get they're new employees but maybe the hiring process needs to be a bit better. The place, like I said is small but not crowded. The front of the store is male oriented, the back is female. The switch up the section occasionally. Currently the back left wall is shoes. They have a large selection of sizez 7 -8. If you're a size ten, they usually have like 4 shoes for us. It's really annoying. The plight of big feet women. The max items in the dressing room is ten, the rooms are clean and well lit. Selling - More of a hassle. Depending on the seller. If you're expecting top notch prices. Do not come here. Or come here when you see someone that's older than 19. My suggestion set a day where you do nothing but travel around and sell your stuff. Here's why, Selling is based on person and trends. Mostly person. There have been times where I have been rejected, come in the next day and they took the very same item. There have been days where I was rejected, went to the one in BK and was accepted. It's really a complete toss up. The NYU freshman employees are the worst buyers. Wait until you see an adult buyuer to get the best bang for your buck. All in all, Buffalo Exchange isn't a place I would TRAVEL TO per se, it's more "I'm got time to kill before drinks. Let me see what they have today." Walk in with zero expectations. Leave with maybe a quiet pleated skirt. read more

We had no idea we needed an appointment to sell clothing. Took an Uber with all of our things, and arrived. We were happy to see no customers and no one waiting in line to sell clothing. The gentleman working told us he would not allow us to sell unless we had an appointment and they were completely filled for the day. However, not one customer was in site. We explained we had spent a lot of money on an Uber and driven over 200 blocks and if he could make an exception. He declined. We were clearly upset. Given the fact there were no other customers there and they seemed empty, I wish he could have made an exception given our situation. Disappointed. read more

Their racks are overloaded with clothes, making it incredibly hard to shop without knocking stuff down. Also, the people who work at this location are incredibly rude and all they do is gossip about to their customers. My main issue was with one of the employees named Frankie. She was EXTREMELY rude and had a frown on her face the whole time. She did not look like she wanted to work and when I asked her a question she had the most annoyed look on her face. Never understood why people with terrible customer service work in retail but clearly she is not suited for the job. Sheesh she couldn't at least faked a smile or something? The people here are AWFUL. I wanted to buy a bunch of stuff but had to use the restroom really bad. They had me leave and walk around to find a bathroom. I went to 3 different grocery stores to no avail. Good sized consignment store. Constantly crowded all of the time. Flip side is that everything is organized well and since it's so high traffic it gets a lot of new stock. But flip flip side is that with the stuff they buy, most of the stock is stuff that already went through the Forever 21 clearance rack. The clothes are honestly kind of weird. I would describe the look as "underage girl with bad fake ID trying to get into a bar" if that conjures up any kind of style. It's mostly main street fashion - think Forever 21, H&M, Zara, with some nicer brands dispersed throughout if you really search. Not vintage as much as three seasons ago. Not a lot of stuff to pick through, and I feel like most things are not priced very attractively. Some stuff very worn down. The shoes they have are all really weird, and the bags/purses/belts all look super worn. With the condition and pricing, I feel like you would be better served just going to the TJ Maxx sale rack, at least everything there would be new. Occasionally you can get a nice gem, like a well priced Theory piece or something. My impression is that the staff here is fairly young don't really know the brands outside of their age group (again, Forever 21, H&M and Urban Outfitters) so stock is wonky and sometimes you find something a very good deal because the staff who bought it had obviously had never heard of Helmut Lang. I love thrift shopping but I've never been crazy about this Buffalo Exchange. Sometimes I wander in hopeful I'll find something. Haven't had much luck and with the stock I've seen it doesn't seem like I will be any time soon. read more
