The staff was wonderful to talk to and they explained how the food reaches those in need. They give you instructions on how to help that day. It's a super team activity or you can sign up to volunteer on your own. I hope to come back again with my team. It was a very fulfilling day. Dress comfortable as you will gathering foods and packing them and working in their warehouse. Such an altruistic place. I love what they do for others

I've witnessed multiple people get turned away and not receive food although they can give boxes of non perishable food out at their own discretion. When perishable food is donated it usually sits on a shelf in the cool until it goes bad and then it's discarded. Many project completed by volunteers often go to the wayside as it sits in the warehouse and does not make it to a food pantry before items in the box pass the extended shelf life. Beware!!!

We ordered their soup, which included delicata squash, onion, cabbage, carrots, tomato. $7.00/16 oz. Unfortunately, the onion overpowered most of the other flavors. The soup was well loaded with veggies, tho, and if we specifically took a piece of squash out by itself, its flavor was fresh! We'll try somethig else next time.

With the Tops where this senseless act of violence took place closed until further notice, the community around it needs help with access to groceries. I found a list of food pantries near the Tops, one of which is Rooted in Love Community Fridge. This is a fridge and dry pantry, so they typically accept donations of both perishable and dry goods. Today we brought down a couple bags of cold goods, and a few bags of pantry items. When we arrived, the lot was full of volunteers, all standing in the pouring rain and ready to help unload donations. We got there around lunchtime, and it was busy. It was a bit disorganized and confusing on where to park and where to bring the donations, but all of the volunteers were extremely friendly and wanted to help. They helped us carry our load of food into the building. I asked the volunteers what to do about the cold items, and most didn't know. An older gentleman acknowledged that he would get the items to the fridge. If you are going to make donations this week, I would recommend sticking with non-perishable pantry items for now. Since there was such an influx of donors and a lot of new volunteers just trying to do their best, things that won't spoil are probably better to bring for now. I am deeply appreciative and grateful for the volunteers and organizers of this food pantry option for our community. There main goal is to help people in poverty levels get FOOD at affordable rates. Each week they make certain stops at various places around the city on scheduled days. In this picture they are at a local senior citizens apartment complex. Their scheduled days here is Tuesday. Poverty in Rochester and other places in the nation is at critical levels. Many of these people involved are volunteers. Currently at this time Foodlink_Curbside Market is closed for a few weeks but will reopen in January 2022.

The volunteer jobs range from food sorting to truck assistance to aquagrow farms to receptionist. I volunteer there for about 4 or 5 years on and off (since my high school school years). I earned many of my volunteer hours here. I did many things such as sorting canned food, cutting carrots, building boxes, taped fillex boxes and sorting tapped boxes. I got to know people on my shelf through talking and listening to them and their conversations.

They hosted a special Easter Sunday service meal to the public between 2-4 today for Easter Sunday where countless dozens came to enjoy a full lunch with tea, hot chocolate, and coffee on the side. I just love coming back and cleaning up after the meal service. They were recognized by the Daily Bread Food Bank years ago for their efforts and commitment to help the people in the community. Wish there more places like this. I will come back to help out whenever I am requested and have the time.
