I commissioned a project ( two shadow boxes for medals) through Budget Framer. It was discussed extensively as to the design & layout of the project. Fred, the proprietor, decided to make the boxes exactly how I asked him not to, he said he was unable to contact me, so went ahead and made them in a manner that was easier & cheaper for himself. When we discussed the issue, Fred stated that it was not his problem & he was only willing to return $800.00 of my $1500.00 deposit, I left with nothing. The store isn't inexpensive, and certainly not budget, but the quality of the work and attention to detail is clear. May 13th, framing complete and it's beautiful. Fred did an amazing job. Fred also noticed that the frame width I'd originally chose was a bit small for the art piece itself. Bringing that to my attention, he had the same style frame, but wider in stock, and of course, I went with that. VERY professionally done. We recently moved into a house with way more wall space than we've ever had before. I'd had some pieces of artwork I'd wanted to get framed for our previous living room, but that had never worked out and wasn't worth doing once we discovered we were moving. I found out about Budget Framers when I saw their ad in one of the magazines that get put out regularly (Quality Connections, I believe). All told, we've had Fred do seven projects for us, and I've been very pleased with the results. He had the exact same frame option as what was used for my college diploma, which made framing our marriage license a cinch to match (now the two hang on either side of our bed). I splurged and got a watercolor framed that I did in high school and that has been sitting in a storage tube since then - he had suggestions on what frame would be suitable while not costing huge amounts because the painting is three regular sheets of watercolor paper glued together in a long strip. And then there were the prints and drawings that I'd wanted to get framed for our previous living room - they all are related to Germany and my granddad or his dad (who immigrated from Germany), but are all slightly different in size. Fred had a good idea for how to mat the pieces to show them off the best, and worked to get the sizes of the finished pieces so that I could hang them and have them look elegant. At this point I think we're done with framing projects, but I will come back if we end up with another. read more

I bought an unstretched canvas of the Disneyland Sleeping Beauty castle for my little girl's room. I met the owner Fred and his wife Michelle and he said he would be able to do it. The measurements were odd and the image was off centered on the canvas but Fred knows what he's doing. It came out beautiful and he got it done in less than a week! Budget Framer is AMAZING! I've had the occasion to use Budget Framer a few times for work projects, and they've always done a good job. But today I went to see Fred (the wonderful, helpful owner) with a personal emergency, and I am beyond thrilled with his customer service, attitude, and price! I have a wedding coming up this weekend (today is Wednesday, and I leave on Saturday), and I needed to get a piece of art framed for the bride and groom. It was a tricky piece to frame-- the art itself is tissue paper, and it's got several openings in the mat. When I went to Michael's, they told me it would be two weeks, and they couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't tear it. I didn't want to chance it, so I came to Fred instead. Not only did he do a BEAUTIFUL job, and stay within my price range of $50 (for not one, but two mats), but he got it done THE SAME DAY!! I couldn't even believe it. I told him I was in a hurry, but I certainly didn't expect him to call me 2 hours later to say it was done!! Budget Framer is convenient, and Fred makes framing projects a breeze-- from helping you to select mats, frames, and layouts-- he's helped me figure out how to frame jerseys, medals, posters...and now a tissue paper sidewalk rubbing with accompanying photo.
