Cute boutique located inside one of the anchor antique shops in Waynesville. The owner is usually…read morearound and will tell you the story of all of her products and why she offers them in her shop. Lots of kitschy decor for your house. She's a big animal lover (her shop is named after her dogs Etsy and Elle I believe) so she also sells items for your pets. I love coming in to check out the clothing she offers that you can't find in the big box stores. Last year I stocked up on scarves and gave them as gifts during the Christmas season. There's always something new in the shop that I didn't know I needed until that very moment. Definitely worth checking out if you're in search of a gift.

From the owner: Etselle is a new concept, a sort of rural boutique! It offers a host of refined, even handmade…read moreproducts for your person or your home in a warm rustic country atmosphere. Located in the heart of the Waynesvillle Antique District adjacent to the Waynesville Antique Mall on South Main Street, a visit to Etselle may remind you of that old English wives' tale about a successful wedding union that is comprised of "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue". The OLD would certainly be the antiques we offer, with a special emphasis on vintage antique hardware, literally thousands of pieces. The NEW is offered in the presence of home décor items, candles, jewelry, art and much more. The BORROWED is represented in the form of ideas and concepts borrowed from the past and re-created and re-purposed, in the form of furniture and accessories. And the BLUE is most assuredly represented in vast selection of blue Ball Jars at the Ball Jar Repurposing Center, the only one in the area! Etselle is derived from the names Etsy and Elle - the owners two mastiffs - but don't worry they stay home everyday so you won't have to deal with them on your next visit! But for those of you who also have dogs and care for them like we do ours, Etsy and Elle have made sure that we have something special available at Etselle for the dogs in your family too!!

I could wander around in this store for hours just looking at the beautiful home decor fabrics, all…read morearranged by color, over two floors. But I didn't have to wander much because two well-informed customer service reps were able to direct me. I was looking for fabric to cover my dining room chairs (small DIY project). I described the color and texture of the fabric I was envisioning, and was led exactly to the right bolts of cloth to choose from. One woman worked the downstairs and the other upstairs. I got just what I wanted, quickly. A much better experience than the chain stores for fabric which are quick but without the rich variety of choices found here. Downfall is simply that Waynesville is likely a bit out of the way for many. But plan ahead and make a day of it by visiting the many antique and decor shops in town. Since it was a 40 minute drive for me, I did call ahead to make sure they were open (I'm learning, post pandemic, not to trust what's shown on websites).

I'm not quite sure what prompted the ire of the pessimistic respondents to The Fabric Shack. Every…read moreinteraction I've had with the staff has been pleasant and informative. They have gone way above and beyond in helping me select fabric for suitable usage. One fabric I picked for outdoor furniture wasn't going to hold up well, and they told me so. They then helped to find a comparable fabric that would stand the test of time. And it has! Their vast selections are high quality and of patterns and types that you can't find at other fabric stores. Prices are fair for your selections, whether high-end or as basic as denim. And they HAVE given me recommendations for quality seamstresses who can make sure their beautiful fabrics turn out as you would expect. The only time I submit ratings for companies on this site is when they go above and beyond expectations, and The Fabric Shack is one of them!

The Looking Glass has always been one of my favorite shops in Waynesville. The shop is always kept…read morevery updated and fresh, so visiting season to season ensures new items and it won't be the same old, same old, like some of the little shops of Waynesville. The thing I like best about this shop is that they offer fresh and local hard-to-find plants (live) that are nice for accenting home decor items and offers custom-made items throughout the store. They also have a ton of mental fabrication products that are bright and cheery and great for outside displays or gardens. They recently just added a small clothing section in the back that is pretty neat, if you are a normal size person - unlike me- so finding clothing for me at these types of stores is difficult. I always say, fat people shop too - but it's so hard to find places that offer plus size clothing that's hip or different from the norm. The other thing I like about this shop is shopping is relaxing without being badgered by the sales person or owner, like many of the other shops. They are very friendly and greet you, are helpful and there if you need them, but the pressure if off and everything is clearly marked, as far as pricing, and allows time to focus on purchasing. Which is always a win win for everyone. I would highly recommend visiting this shop should you love gardening, farmhouse decor, natural wood decor and just anything else that's pretty and creative. Find your one-of-a-kind item here for gifts or for yourself. They do not have a private parking lot, but there are plenty of parking spots on the street or around the downtown shopping area.
