When I reserved the hotel on hotels.com I was told it was about 20 miles away. An indication of the route would have helped but that is not the hotels fault. The drive from Baden Baden goes through the mountains and involves a lot of twists and turns. It is a nice drive but in the dark and when tired, it can be a little much. We arrived about 1.5 hours after making our reservation online. When we arrived the very nice yet elderly innkeeper told us she could not retrieve the reservation because she didn't know how to use the computer. I had reserved to twin beds however she stated no twin rooms were available but took our name so the could retrieve the reservation later and she showed us to a king bed. The room was definitely dated. I don't think it had been renovated since the 1960's. The room was very large through and the bathroom was pretty. I was able to turn on the TV and watch some Seinfeld in German which was kind of cool. When I woke up in the morning I was taken aback by the beautiful views from the room. Breakfast was served however we did not partake. The weirdest part of the stay happened in the morning when the cleaning lady basically pushed us out of the room starting at about 9:45. Check out was 11 but they knocked once and let themselves into the room to see if we wanted breakfast and to let us know they wanted to clean. We ended up leaving earlier than intended but the stay was still fine. There is free parking for visitors and like I said breakfast is included.

While checking in the nice older lady at the desk said she was too old to look up our reservation so she had us write our name down and showed us to a room. We had reserved a two twin room however she said they did not have any and we were given a king room. The room was very large and didn't look to be updated since the 60's with the exception of the tv. The room was comfortable enough for a one night stay. In the morning another lady came into our room 3 times. 2 times asking if we wanted breakfast. I didn't like the fact that if we took more than a minute to open the door she would get a master key and let herself in. By the 3rd time we just packed up and left. It was an odd experience and I doubt I would stay here again.

Go for something local. I got an amazing sandwich for €4,30 at one of the shops in the Bahnhof. Parking was reasonable outside for €1 per half hour. When…read morechecking in, Isabell who was working the front desk noticed that I was celebrating my birthday(a big one!) the next day. The staff made sure to make my birthday special in many ways. On my birthday, Mr Sablottni, the restaurant manager, greeted me with birthday wishes and seated us in a private room for my birthday breakfast. A very decadent chocolate birthday cake was delivered to me during our breakfast. Later, champagne & cake was delivered to our room for us to enjoy on our spacious balcony overlooking the city of Baden Baden. During our stay, all of the staff went out of their way to help us with directions, recommendations, and reservations. I was very pleased with our hotel room which was spacious and updated. The hotel's location is convenient for walking to restaurants and shops in Baden Baden. We have stayed in many luxury hotels and the Dorint in Baden Baden is my favorite!

First morning I couldn't use navigation in rented car, man from the front desk came out and set it up. Right now I'm watching old Russian couple at the breakfast. Hotel sent Russian speaking guy to help them to make sure they are comfortable. Unbelievable! This place keep surprising me with level of comfort and how clean and well organized everything is here. All little details are done with love and smart way for customers. Bedding is hypoallergenic and comfortable. My room has beautiful view and a little balcony. I enjoyed pool, spa and face&body massage. Katrin is very professional and polite. Spa area is spotless also. Everyone I met outside was friendly, helpful and not irritated by tourists. If you have a rental car like we did, the drive is not long (about 10-15 min). The scenery is gorgeous- we had a view of the vineyards from our balcony- and the hotel is so charming and well-kept. The lower level of the hotel has a fitness room and spa with a sauna, whirlpool/jacuzzi, steam bath, and a sun deck. It was all very pleasant and relaxing. They do charge 4 euro for the whirlpool but everything else is free. Parking is no extra charge and hassle-free...they have spaces right in front of the hotel and some a little off to the side as well. They also offer a luggage cart to save you multiple trips. Wi-fi only costs 1 euro per day. The hotel has an elevator and air conditioning! Bed was comfy. The breakfast here was very nice- we did not eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant so I cannot comment on the other meals but if it's anything like the rest of the hotel, I'm sure it's amazing. The staff, especially the woman who runs the front desk (owner?) is SO incredibly sweet and helpful. Anything we needed, any question we had, all we had to do was ask and it was handed over to us with a friendly smile. The staff we encountered spoke English rather well so communication wasn't an issue for us. Upon check-in, we were even given cards that gave us discounts at popular places to visit in town (the casino, Caracalla Spa, etc.) We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to returning some day!
