Chanced upon the Wollzeile location one evening on the way to dinner at Cafe Diglas half a block up the street. Every time I travel to Germany and/or Austria I bring back as many fairly current German-language paperbacks as I can fit into my suitcases, or this time, into a duffel bag brought along expressly for that purpose. Since my maximum price per book is generally 11 Euros, I went (almost) crazy in this store, which sells remainders and slightly damaged copies at about half price. If you're not looking for up-to-the-minute releases, you'll be very happy here. My only disappointment: the lack of history and biography titles. If the store carried a good stock of these, it would be the only bookstore in Vienna I would ever need! As it is, I acquired a treasure trove of novels that will keep me in reading material for a long time: each fat book the size of three regular publications and for half the price of just one! There's also a collection of postcards of Vienna for the tourist, like me, who would rather _see_ than snap endless photos. A series of shots by an art photographer, printed with a sizable white border, was very lovely, and even the post office employee who sold me the stamps for them commented on their beauty. The shop itself is bright and welcoming, the staff very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be back next year, maybe with two duffel bags! read more
