To get here, it's a fair walk (about 15-20 minutes) from Richmond station but there's lots of interest along the way, especially if you're 'adventurous' enough to step-off the beaten-track of the high street and open to discover the gems in the side streets and along the towpath. There are plenty of buses that stop close-by - just step-off in Richmond Hill or Petersham Road; from Richmond Park exit from Richmond Gate or the Petersham pedestrian Gate.
If there's a downside it's that during the weekend it isn't always the most tranquil place to be, as there are many groups enjoying picnics on the grass here, playing ball games and generally reveling in the beauty before their eyes. There are plenty of benches to sit on too and an inspiring vista surrounding you to continue your explorations. read more
