Caesar salad & Mozzarella garlic bread
    Marilyn G.

My Son was craving for Italian food and since he was in Spring break he called his friends to dine in with us and of course whenever he brings his friends that meant that I was the one paying as always ;) So since it was not just me and my son dining out, I decided to bring them to BUCA DI BEPPO, it's a a good Italian restaurant with a mostly Family style foods to order. We have been to Buca de Beppo in the different locations they have and their portions are really good sizes. Here are what we agreed on to order: *LARGE ITALIAN SAUSAGE PAPPARDELLE *MARGHERITA  PIZZA *GARLIC ROASTED CHICKEN  & POTATOES *FETTUCCINE ALFREDO w / CHICKEN *CAESAR SALAD *MOZZARELLA GARLIC BREAD *VILLA GARDEN SPRITZ *COLOSSAL BROWNIE SUNDAE My VILLA GARDEN SPRITZ is very refreshing, and as always their mozzarella garlic bread and caesar salad were good. We had 2 sets of Pasta, the LARGE ITALIAN SAUSAGE PAPPARDELLE and the FETTUCCINE ALREDO with chicken. My Son and his friends liked the ITALIAN SAUSAGE pasta and I liked the FETTUCCINE ALFREDO Pasta more, maybe it's because I was craving for something cheesy that day. The MARGHERITA PIZZA was not my first choice, but one of my son's friends chose it. I didn't like it, it tasted like a regular Pizza. I liked the ROASTED GARLIC CHICKEN with potatoes, it's juicy, tasty, and had a good size. For the DESSERT I always choose their COLOSSAL BROWNIE SUNDAE, this is served in a huge Martini glass, this is actually a good one and it's a really a good size for sharing. The service was good. We found a parking space right away in front of their restaurant.

Used a gift card to order pickup after work. The decor was adorable and the hostess was genuinely kind, though parking downtown made me work for it. I really wanted to like this place, but the food felt like it was made without much love. The "large" pizza that claims to feed 3-4 was surprisingly small for $27.99, and the taste was... giving Chuck E. Cheese with a hint of romano. My sons were not impressed and amazingly refused to eat because it smelled like socks. The mozzarella garlic bread was undercooked and needed a trip to our oven. Once it was actually cooked it was tasty after adding some seasoning. The meatball was a little too pink for my daughter and had to be cooked more. The rigatoni arrived cold, dry, and needed extra sauce and seasoning. Overall, everything was bland and missing that extra love. Even with the nice staff and cute atmosphere, the meal just wasn't good. Maybe just a bad day for the cook and my bad luck since some people left pretty good reviews. Unfortunately, I won't be back and happy the bulk of the cost was covered by a gift card.

Holy cow, it is a lot of food......3 grown men barely put a dent in it. I did not know it was a chain. The salad was great. The lasagna was meh...come hungry

We came in before the dinner rush, and were seated right away and a big table. The ambiance is fun Italian art, photos and memorabilia on the walls. We all decided to get pizza, fettuccine and ravioli. All of the food was delicious. We didn't have to wait too long for the food. The waiter was very nice and attentive.

As always, it was a pleasure dining in for a quick bite, our server Jeff definitely made an amazing first impression by greetings us soon as we walked in & sat us down and made the most refreshing Moscow Mule of the evening as well as the Roman Tiki drink, looking forward to returning and seeing Jeff! Thanks!

This is a new location for Bucca di Beppo. Parking was hard to find, so we had to park in a paid lot nearby. They have great family style options and service was very attentive. We started with their complimentary bread and olive oil/vinegar. I got a mocktail and he chose a cocktail. For apps, we shared the meatballs, calamari, bruschetta, mushroom bites, and Caesar salad. I was getting full already! For our entrees, we chose the chicken carbonara and lasagna. We couldn't pass on the chocolate cake! At the end of our meal, they gave us complimentary shots of limoncello!

Was craving chicken parmigiana and fettuccine alfredo, Buca didn't disappoint. Came in on a hopping Saturday night, we sat at the bar so we could order from them lunch menu (smaller portions). Kyle our bartender/server was awesome. Was so much fun chatting with him as he did his good work. We were probably annoying but if he we was he never let on. Drinks and dinner were fantastic with plenty of leftovers for breakfast. Yes, I love cold pasta. So happy we have such a laid back place close to here we live.

Rising from the ashes, Buca di Beppo has not only emerged from corporate bankruptcy, but they have opened at a new address within the Gaslamp Quarter. The former site was on the edge of East Village and began to look dilapidated. This spot took over the space of a LA-based 24-hour diner in the southwest corner of the Quarter that had been closed for years. The exterior of the suite was rather muted except for an unusual sidewalk sign. Upon entering, the inside was exactly how I remembered this business when I first dined at an out-of-state Buca di Beppo some two decades ago. Red and white tablecloths adorned each table. There were plenty of black and white photographs on the walls along with gaudy decor. I noticed at least two private dining rooms that each had a theme, one of which was in "honor" of the pope. This chain is known for family-style Italian food in HUGE portion sizes. On the top left corner of the menu, it stated that a small order could feed three while a large order could feed five. The most significant difference nowadays was the higher prices due to inflation and labor costs. Spaghetti with Meatballs was one dish we always ordered. I chose a small serving which set me back $39.99! Two of their famous half-pound meatballs adorned a bed of spaghetti served with marinara sauce. I sprinkled a lot of parmesan cheese on top of the dish when it arrived at my table. It was pretty basic and filling, especially the meatballs. I think I consumed about 1/3 of the order before packaging the rest as leftovers. I even took home some of the complimentary bread that was served with a side dish of balsamic vinegar in olive oil for dipping. The worker who was staffing the outside hostess stand also double as my server because they were not busy on the night of my visit. I had no issue with the service I received as other staff members assisted as needed. I gave a four star rating for my dinner at the new downtown Buca di Beppo.

The inside looks fantastic and I love the vibe but the food was well below mediocre. The chicken canneloni didn't have much flavor too it and it was extremely greasy. The cheese tortellini was also extremely flavorless and I would not recommend. The portions are large and enough for 2-3 people if you have an appetite. The waitress was very nice and understanding because we waiting for about 30 mins before the last person in our party arrived and she didn't rush us.

Pricey but if you come for lunch it's reasonable with the same quality of food. Nice dinner date of friend gathering. The service was good considering they were a little busy but it is near the convention center. The appearance of my food was good but I had to grab and run so I don't know how it taste just yet but looks delicious.

    Beer and wine list.

Another fantastic experience at Buca du Beppo Gaslamp! My server was Jessie once again, and she made excellent suggestions for dinner and drinks! Five stars for Jessie! Very fun and traditional Italian ambiance, which is appreciated. A delicious place to bring family or a group of friends. Thank you, Jessie, for a wonderful evening.

I also gota pepperoni, basil, ricotta, hot honey slice which was better. The crust was decent and had more chew than crisp. While it was okay, I'd prefer to go to another shop when I'm craving a slice.

Pizza Wasn't the Only Thing Getting Fired Up Outside…read more We weren't even customers here, but after what I saw outside this place I definitely won't be one in the future. We were standing on the sidewalk near the red seating area in front of Filippi's Pizza Grotto for about ten minutes finishing a smoke. I had recently experienced a flare-up of a chronic illness, which significantly affected my well-being. During this episode,I had felt the need to smoke as a way to manage the heightened stress and discomfort caused by my condition. Right as we finished and were about to leave, a police car pulled up (it honestly looked like the officer was just stopping by to grab lunch). That's when an older lady employee from the restaurant suddenly came outside and said, "Do you mind moving down? The smoke is going into my restaurant." Fair request. We immediately responded respectfully with "Sorry miss," and started walking away to avoid any issue. But instead of leaving it there, she kept escalating the situation while they were already leaving, repeating things like "This is a family business, have some respect!" -- which didn't really make sense considering we had already apologized and were doing exactly what she asked. What made the whole thing feel strange was the timing. We had been standing there for around ten minutes already. If the smoke was truly bothering the restaurant, why wait until the exact moment a police car pulled up to come outside and confront us? From the outside, it honestly looked like the presence of the police suddenly gave her the confidence to make a scene and try to draw attention to us even though we were already complying. It appears she wanted to get us into legal trouble with her making it a bigger scene in front of the police. Another thing that didn't sit right with me was that we were the only Hispanics standing in the area at the time and the only people she chose to confront. I'm not saying that was the intention, but from a bystander's perspective it definitely didn't look great. Also, I'm still confused by the "this is a family restaurant" comment. What exactly does that mean in this situation? Are people who smoke not allowed to eat there? Because we weren't even customers at the moment we were simply standing on a public sidewalk and immediately moved when asked. If someone respectfully complies with your request, there's really no reason to continue escalating the situation or trying to involve the police by drawing attention to it. If this is how people are treated outside the restaurant, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence about how customers are treated inside. It appears that if you're Hispanic or a smoker you should steer clear of this place. I wouldn't be surprised if she has ICE on speed dial.

I got the burrata pizza. This was my fault cause i was still expecting sauce but there was none. Which I kind of understand but for $19 I would have rather just got a burrata platter as like a dip. The dough was honestly amazing. Crust is very fluffy, closer to the center is extremely thin. Overall it was good and fresh but I wouldn't pay $19 for it again. Sister got the spicy salami. Again the dough was good. Sauce was good definitely a more savory red sauce. Salami was fs spicy, we love spice but this fs had a kick. Overall good I think it could have been great with a hot honey. Pizza is on the bigger side. There's only 4 slices but it's more like 8 regular slices. More than enough for one person. We both only had half and saved the rest for home. To wrap it up, the ambiance is good for a nice night out but the food is only ok for the price. Very fresh and good but I would rather spend less on a good pizza than more on a gourmet place. Would recommend for a nice date night or something like that.

Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.
