Hôtel Ibis - The epic French breakfast

The location was great the room was kept clean. The breakfast was good to fair. Some morning they…read moregave you a hard boiled egg. Other times they had microwaved scrambled eggs. The front reception attendants are friendly and made small talk. I lost my room key and they were very helpful in making me another. I did find a sock underneath my bed that didn't belong to us. So if you're missing a sock let them know maybe they can help you find it. My only complaint apart from the sock was the room was extremely small. The bathroom should be illegal as to how horribly small it was that make it very difficult to use the toilet. It was about 6-12 inches from the wall the sink was located very close to the toilet which made it difficult to maneuver and in front of you stood the door 6-12 inches that almost hit the bed every time you open it, I dreaded using the bathroom and the shower always leaks water on the floor. I would not recommend this place if your big cause it will feel like a prison cell. Have no plans on ever using this hotel chain in the future.

Breakfast buffet included assorted pastries, croissants, some fruit, yogurt, cereal, cakes, ham and cheese, and my favorites: crepe, Nutella, self serve juices and hot beverages (coffee, espresso, hot chocolate, etc), 9 euro buffet- best deal in France but come expecting an American Holiday Inn version of breakfast, not French.

We arrived early as planned so we could visit the Palace of Versailles that day before checking out and going to Paris. There were no rooms available at check-in unless we upgraded our room for an additional 60 Euros or something like that. We usually just a a free upgrade but we wanted to get moving so we paid for the upgrade. We then asked for directions to the Palace and were given the very quick version which took us in the wrong direction and we ended up walking way out of the way and almost missed our tour. The food and everything about this hotel is expensive!! It's a Waldorf. Is it a good value? I think that depends on what each person values. It really as not to me. The rooms were gorgeous and the toiletries were Aesop which is expensive. The hotel is two buildings, one that is really nice and one that is okay. There are not many restaurants around so it's easy to just eat at the hotel yet there are not a ton of options and not one is moderately priced. The breakfast buffet which comes with Diamond status was excellent. The hotel is truly convenient for a night if you are visiting the palace.

If you're planning on visiting France, I honestly would not recommend staying in this hotel unless…read moreyou're only here for a couple of nights. Okay first of all, what the heck is up with the elevator. The elevator does not go straight up, so if you're on the first floor going to the second floor, it will take you straight back down to the lobby ( 0 floor ) before taking you to the floor you actually want to go to. So in order to save your precious time, might as well just use the stairs. Second, the employees and receptionist are not very nice and accommodating. To make things less confusing for you guys, I joined a Chinese tour although I'm from Taiwan ( so technically, I am "Chinese"). I know how Chinese tourists are like, they can be pretty rude, loud and obnoxious at times (and I'm sorry on behalf of these people if you ever get to experience it). But the point is, I was treated rudely by the employees as if they looked down upon us. The employees that work in the canteen weren't too friendly to us but what was even worse was the very very accommodating receptionist. Each of the hotel room has a mini kitchen with a mini fridge, stove, microwave and some cooking wares. We decided to use the stove and was confused as to why the light on the stove was still turned on when we clearly turned it back off more than 10 minutes ago. Concerned, I went downstairs to the lobby to ask the receptionist for assistance. She decided to shoo me away saying " I'm busy right now doing important things, I'll get back to you in 10 minutes. " while she proceeds to count money at her desk. What pisses me off is that she NEVER came to check up on us when she clearly said she would, which shows that she does not care about the safety of her customers and would much rather focus on something else that could be done later on. Third, there's nothing much in the area. No convenience stores, groceries, nada. Just a Chinese restaurant and buffet 10 minutes away from the hotel. Oh and if you're planning to use their hotel WiFi, it only works when you're in the lobby. It may reach your room but it doesn't work all the time.
