Though each time I'm tasked to do a run here, it's usually for regular Modelos or on the rare occasion 99 Bananas. Definitely bring cash since they do a surcharge for card. They got a craft beer cave there which is fun. And for a snacker like me, they have imported chips from Mexico, which is great cuz I love those Hot Cheetos Bolitas (the health warning on them is crazy). Plenty of parking since they're located in the corner of a super huge plaza. Workers are efficient, get in get out.

My husband and I visit this business fairly often since my dentist is nearby, and we've generally…read moreenjoyed stopping in. However, we recently had a disappointing experience. After my dental appointment, we decided to stop by around 8:30 a.m. to purchase one of their Jell-O shot buckets. The front door was unlocked, and the posted hours indicated they opened at 8:00 a.m., so we naturally assumed they were open for business. When we walked in, the employee at the register immediately called out, "We're not open." I explained that the posted hours showed they opened at 8:00, and she responded that they still weren't open. When I asked what time they would be opening, I was told it could be anywhere from 10 to 30 more minutes. At that point, we decided to take our business elsewhere. If the business is not consistently opening at its posted time, management may want to update the hours of operation or ensure staff are ready to serve customers when the doors are unlocked. Having the door open and the posted hours indicating the business is open creates a reasonable expectation that customers can come in and make a purchase. Unfortunately, this experience left us disappointed and unlikely to return anytime soon.

If you're even remotely serious about bourbon--or rare spirits of any kind--Valley Market Liquor in…read moreWalnut, CA is not just a liquor store... it's a destination. I say this as someone who actively bourbon hunts, who understands allocations, secondary markets, distillery drops, and the difference between "hard to find" and actually rare. I also say this as someone who regularly interacts with and learns from some of the most respected names in the bourbon community. I've been around. I know what elite looks like. Valley Market Liquor is firmly in that tier. Their inventory is nothing short of staggering. This is one of those places where you immediately realize you're not in a normal liquor store. Rare, special, and allocated bottles are not treated like mythical unicorns here--they're curated, thoughtfully stocked, and rotated with an eye for true enthusiasts. Whether you're chasing limited releases, hard-to-find single barrels, elite store picks, or bottles you've only ever seen online or on Instagram, there's a very real chance Valley Market Liquor has it... and at a fair price. What's most impressive is not just the volume, but the quality of the selection. This isn't random hype inventory. It's a collection built by people who understand bourbon--heritage, mash bills, distillery profiles, aging statements, and what actually drinks well versus what just looks good on a shelf...and their bundle offers are incredible, and well-thought-out! The customer service is on another level. Ly (the owner), and staff, are wonderfully friendly and are genuine experts. Conversations here feel like talking shop with fellow bourbon hunters, not being sold to by someone reading shelf tags. They listen. They ask what you like. They make recommendations that are thoughtful, educated, and spot-on. It's immediately clear they live and breathe this world. And beyond the knowledge, the kindness stands out. The owners are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and sincere. You feel appreciated the moment you walk in or place an order. That matters--especially in a community like bourbon, where relationships and trust mean everything. Their online presence through lyliquor.com and vmliquor.com deserves its own standing ovation. These sites are unlike anything else out there. The availability alone is jaw-dropping--bottles that most stores never see are just... there. And the pricing? Unbeatable. Legitimately some of the most competitive prices I've seen anywhere, especially given the caliber of inventory. For collectors, enthusiasts, and serious drinkers who know the market, this is the kind of online store you bookmark, check often, and quietly tell your closest bourbon friends about--because it's that good. Shipping is another area where Valley Market Liquor in Walnut, CA absolutely shines. Their packaging is exceptional--meticulous, professional, and clearly designed by people who care deeply about what they're sending. Every bottle is triple-protected, carefully wrapped, and secured with the kind of attention you'd expect if they were shipping their own personal collection. Bottles arrive pristine. Every time. There are liquor stores... and then there are institutions. Valley Market Liquor is the latter. This is the kind of place that earns lifelong customers, not just one-time purchases. It's rare to find a shop that combines massive inventory, elite product knowledge, fair pricing, exceptional service, flawless shipping, and genuinely good people under one roof--but this one does. If you're a bourbon hunter, a collector, a serious enthusiast, or even someone just starting to explore the world of great whiskey, this is a store you need to experience. I'll be shopping here often, recommending it loudly, and proudly calling it my go-to. Valley Market Liquor has earned a customer for life--and then some. Absolutely a hidden gem, @bourbon_hunter and @brewzle! #bourbonhunting #bourboncommunity #liquorstorefind
