I don't live in fear I am going to spend the next day hovering near the toilet or fear I am consuming more than the daily calorific intake of the average athlete. Sumos is a very clean and lean eating establishment. Their food is also MSG free if you are one of those people who are holding on to the myth that Chinese Restaurant Syndrome is a world problem. My favourite dish is their curry laksa, but there is a veritable choice of Asian style noodle and rice stir fries and curries to choose from. And at approx $10 for a large serving it is very reasonably priced. Their sushi on the other hand is slightly more expensive than the average sushi bar at approx $2.70 for a roll. It is not bad quality but a bit annoying that they charge you 10c extra for soy sauce and 30c for wasabi.

There are two sizes of bowl, the $15 classic and the $23 sumo. I find the classic a perfect sise for me. You can get their bowl combinations, or choose your own. I like choosing my own. You can choose up to two bases, from brocoli kale, mixed grain rice, green matcha sushi rice and soba noodles. Then choose two proteins from raw salmon, raw tuna, prawns and tofu. They are all delicious but the prawns and tofu are mouthwatering. Following you choose up to 8 sides (toppings really) and sauce and sprinkles. My favourites include mushrooms, kim chi, edmame, zuchini pasta, jalapeno, furikake, 7 spice kewpie, wasabi sesami and the list goes on. If you want it to remain super healthy, maybe go easy on the sweeter, creamier sauces. I can't resist though. I've not been to the venue as I always order on Uber Eats. Tucked away In one of Melbourne's lesser know arcades this venue is anything but glitzy and glamourous.
