I was recommended to come to this place by a friend of mine. It is not a fancy accounting office, rather a room with some chairs and a window. It almost looks like a check cashing joint...lol. At Balcom Consulting Services they offer Accounting, Bookkeeping, Small Business Tax Prep., Tax Planning, and Small Business Consulting, they also do taxes for the little people like me if that does not fit into that category. Not only did I get friendly service, a great return, everything was organized and but into a nice neat binder for safe keeping. Here is how they do things: - You walk in, they give you a form - You fill out all of your information including any deductions (student loan statements, medical bills, charity, etc.) - Hand the nice girl at the counter your form and your W-2's. - Wait for a phone call (they are very very quick) - they tell you the cost of preparing your taxes, you come back in with a check, sign the dotted line. *** they spend time really figuring out how to get you your money, they are ethical in every shape or form, they are thorough that is why you have to wait for a call*** I am happy to say I will be using them again for the upcoming tax season, you should too!!

I will do so immediately. I received yet another notice from the IRS indicating something was incorrect on my tax return from 2 years ago and indicating I owed a significant amount of money. I asked Lisa for help determining if this was really owed and why and it was like pulling teeth to get any information from her despite the fact that she filed it, was paid to do so, and is best suited to answer questions regarding the return. I called her and she didn't call me back. She would only respond via email and partially at that. I wanted to know if she included incorrect information in my return (either caused by me or caused by her) and she was seemingly avoiding that question like the plague, instead just telling me very bluntly and rudely, to review it myself and pay the money the IRS is requesting if the numbers didn't match. Without expertise, this is very difficult to figure out and navigate on your own. The tax code is extensive! Further, if she was the cause and the IRS is in fact correct that I owe money, she caused me to lose a significant amount of money as interest accrued since the tax return was originally due in April. Moreover, every moment she delayed, interest continued to accrue. Did Lisa care? Not at all. As a service provider myself, I am appalled. Everyone makes mistakes, but who makes mistakes and leaves the person they injured to fend for themselves? So, what did I pay Brooks for? To possibly mess up and not help me correct it? She didn't offer to call the IRS or help me figure it out in any way. Even if she didn't make a mistake, I paid them enough money to help me or they could request an additional fee. However, they also take money from you and force you to pay for some audit service. Don't do it. If they won't help me with this allegation, what makes us think they will help with a more extensive audit? This is at least the second time something has gone awry with my tax return in 3 or so years of working with them. The first time they did offer to file again for me without compensation. I also second the other comments about their extreme lack of professionalism across this business. Lisa is disrespectfully late to just about every call and always with an excuse, totally lacking self awareness that the constant excuses don't fly with a paying customer. Again everyone is late from time to time, but Lisa / Brooks is overly egregious. They also are not good at asking you the necessary questions to ensure you report everything you need to report on your taxes. This has burned me several times. I'm also still waiting for a copy of my return, which I requested. I cannot wait to begin a journey with a different, more responsible and more professional organization.
