I remember as a small child hearing many heroic stories about this or that person getting home-runs, all kinds of base hits etc. In its heyday various local textile mills sponsored their own teams and a league was formed. Sadly the remains of this once great baseball field of honor is now just another relic of the past.

We hit the timing right during "happy hour" from 9AM to 11AM and get 153 balls for $10. The temperature was around 40 degree's but the tee boxes had choices of open air or a heated and covered option. With two tiers, there is plenty of room to hit. There is a mix of fields (speedball, hyperball, woods, dirt berms, little huts), but there aren't a whole ton of fields--I might have just named them all. The speedball field is well maintained and is built on fake turf so it's nice to slide. The prices seemed reasonable. I would recommend.

Everything I can imagine that would make a baseball game perfect and comfortable to attend is here. They even have a portable sink that's been supplied with hand soap and paper towels! The seating is aluminum bleachers and look to have been recently cleaned! A nice concession stand and restrooms are onsite! Beautiful complex that reflects this county's support of baseball!

Fluor Field in downtown Greenville is home to the Greenville Drive; the single A minor league…read moreaffiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The ballpark is over 20 years old, but looks very modern with open concourses and plenty of concession stands. There's even a Green Monster in left field to replicate Fenway Park in Boston. Unlike other ballparks, there is no seating beyond the outfield for fans to catch home run balls. Not sure if all minor league ballparks are doing this, but the netting is extended the full length of the outfield, severely limited chances for fans to get any foul balls. Prices for some of the concessions are highly reasonable compared to other ballparks, but the food I tried really wasn't of good quality. The game I had tickets to got rained out, but it was fairly easy to get a replacement ticket for the doubleheader the following day. They had a special Marvel superheroes day for the game attended against the Asheville Tourists, so players wore Captain America jerseys and costumed characters were in the stands to take pictures and participate in promotions. They also gave away a special X-Men comic book. The team store was quite overpriced without any budget merchandise options, but it's a trend I've been seeing at quite a few minor league ballparks. Overall, it was a fun day out at the ballpark, so if you like baseball, I'd recommend a Greenville Drive game at Fluor Field.
