Well, I'm afraid the chain store wins out here for a couple of reasons. First of all, the staff here aren't as friendly as they are in the Clintons (I'm talking about the Clintons on Albany Road here). Pure and simple, they just don't treat you as nicely. Secondly, and - really - more importantly, the range of cards isn't as good. This isn't a little treasure trove of cards (though, if you're lucky, you may find one you want after much searching) - it offers the worst range of low end cards. The prices are good but isn't it worth spending just a little bit more and not being so ashamed when you post your card that you wiggle your arm through the postbox slot to try and retrieve it, and then have to wait while someone calls the fire brigade because you've got yourself stuck? I think we all know the answer.

I've shopped around for various craft supplies and hobbycraft isn't as expensive as i thought it would be, it has the added bonus of being all under one roof. I don't agree with previous comments that it's a shop for lazy people, if you are short on time then it's the best place. Smaller more personable hobby shops which are lovely will inevitably be more expensive and smaller in size including options for stock so it depends what you are after. i used to buy online from independent sellers but you do get less for your money and if you are intending to sell your items you create like i do, every penny makes a difference. Another good place to check out is local garden Centres, would be surprised the things i've found! They sell an abundance of Christmas crafts, ribbon, buttons, pendants, beads, modelling craft, decoupage, flower arranging, kids crafts and art work, cake decorating icing/ materials and that's just down stairs! It does get very bust on weekends, deducting a star for the times i've had to wait in the que for half and hour or more. They do seem to lack the correct number of staff in my opinion but the staff they do have are helpful as can be. If you are just starting off looking for a new hobby or unsure where to go with some craft ideas, just go for a visit, your not obligated to buy anything. You'll get 1001 ideas and inspirations :)

For if they did they would almost certainly shop around and get things cheaper, better and more specialized. For what it is though (craft shop for lazy people) it is pretty good as they have a wide selection of materials and pretty much everything you need under one roof. I have to admit using this one in particular as it is nice and big and I know they will have the specific item I'm looking for. If only the prices were that little bit cheaper. Sorry, scrap that, if only the prices were a lot cheaper, it would be a pretty good chained store. As it stands at the moment it is quite frankly a rip off.

It's a great exchange shop - you can sell off any of your unwanted electrical items, I find that you don't tend to get very much for things like DVDs but at least you get something back in your pocket if your mum starts threatening to take your collection to the charity shop! I've never bought anything more substantial, like a phone or game console, although they do sell them readily, I can't help agreeing with Craig in that much of it could well be taken-from-somebody's-hand rather than actually second-hand but nevertheless this Bristol branch offers a wide range of most things electrical. I particularly like coming here off a morning and spending a good hour rumbling through the stacks - it's always fun to go for an odd ball, something you've never heard of, sometimes it's brilliant and sometimes it's one to trade back to CeX!

And why weren't they allowed a refund from Apple, the thing only came out about a week ago!? They have a huge range of electronics in this shop; it's great just to have a browse. They have technical components and computer equipment for the tech guys who might want an upgrade, but they also have a great selection of cameras and laptops. They have a huge amount of computer games and DVDs and you can sell them yours once you've finished with them. I am not sure how good they are with the prices they will give you for them, but at least they are here to give us the option. Some of the stock prices seem a little high, but I am sure some haggling would be allowed.

Some of the jewellery that they stock has broad appeal, but the clothing, which is comprised of Sarees, Shalwah Kemeez, and Lengas and other traditional Indian items, has a more limited appeal. I know a little bit about Indian clothing as I lived in Kerala in South India for a couple of years. I know that it's entirely feasible to buy Sarees for a few pounds, and that you can also pay hundreds for the ones that are embroidered with gold thread. Pirmahal Fashion stocks the more affordable range of ready to wear clothing, (or ready-mades as they call them in India), and the same applies to the Saree fabrics as well. It takes 6 metres of material to make the dress part of the Saree alone, and then a further metre and a half is required on average for the blouse... they can be pretty expensive affairs!

So I asked for it to be done again on thicker paper. This copy came out really well so I was happy, until the price came; £3.10!!! Now, I know £3.10 in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot of money, but I was charged 30p for sending them an email, 20p for the first piece of paper, 30p for the next and the rest for printing it - ridiculous!
