Is it weird to love a dentist? Because I'm pretty into Malmin Dental…read more Huge shiny tooothed smile to Carl P, for without his review I would never have known the wonderful efficiency in dental that is Malmin, a private dentist operation near Farringdon. I have actually put off any UK dental experience for as long as I could, always scheduling dental cleanings or procedures while visiting my hometown (childhood dentist, nostalgia!) or Chicago (my first real adult dentist). Both of which I loved, and I was fearful of dealing with anything inferior/foreign where my teeth are concerned. And then my toddler head-smashed me and it was literally time to "bite the bullet" and get to a dentist nearby. I looked up on Yelp, found Carl's review, sent an email and had an appointment within a few hours. 1. They are very responsive via email for appointments. It is not a hassle. This is a big deal. 2. The staff was all very friendly and professional. 3. I've had 2 appointments, both were very punctual. 4. I never felt pressured to commit to anything I didn't want or need. But was given good advice about options. 5. My teeth felt cleaner than they had ever felt in my life - not joking. (Irina is a wizard hygenist!) 6. All costs for treatment plan were clearly laid out and agreed to, and updated as things changed. 7. The office is clean and conveniently located to transport (Farringdon Station) I have zero complaints and only good things to say. If you are looking for a private dental practice, this is a great choice. Very honest, trustworthy, efficient and professional -- everything you want when someone is drilling into your teeth/mouth and taking your money, right? Indeed. ::::smiles:::::

A six monthly clean to remove tea and tobacco stains results in white teeth and with no fuss. I really hate the dentists who ask me to come back and see the hygienist with two exquisitely inconvenient week day appointments. I have also had a filling replaced at this surgery. The sign outside is shabby and the stairs rickety but this dentist does the job and I've even been able to get an NHS appointment on a Saturday here. He has instructed me to use floss more often and my gum disease has cleared up. Excellent!

And so, nearly a decade went without me paying a visit to the dentist. They're scary. DRILLING noises can be heard. The only time I want to hear drilling noises is outside my house at 7am, and even then that's not a good thing. But, when toothache started making me cry, it was pretty obvious that I wasn't going to get by on tea and sympathy. Of I walked up the massive hill to here (they're NHS after all), I signed a form and then popped back again the next day. Up the horrid hill AGAIN (seriously, it's steep and about a mile long). And then these things happened... Mr. Dentist was cute. Mr. Dentist was friendly. Mr. Dentist told me I would be fine. Mr. Dentist didn't laugh when I cried (really, I did cry). Then he gave me drugs. Really really good ones. All for £16.

First, I was booked in with the wrong type of professional. That ended up being a waste of time and caused delay in my orthodontic treatment, but one mistake is no big deal. Unfortunately there's more. I was then booked in with the right professional and charged a full fee, because this was the second consultation (even though they had made a mistake). This professional thoroughly examined my mouth, and then while we were talking he asked "you don't have any wisdom teeth left, do you?". That was very concerning since I have a clearly visible wisdom tooth. Of course I wasn't going to work with this person, so I booked in with another specialist and paid the price they quoted. Then, two days before my appointment, they asked me for more money (about double what I paid) and refused to see me without the extra payment. You can't quote a price and then ask for more money after the patient agrees, so I asked for a refund. I also asked to speak to the practice manager and after 10 days I haven't been contacted. This has also caused months of delay in my orthodontic treatment.

The miss information across the dentists in the practise is beyond belief. When I questioned them about this I was told " well dentists have difference of opinions". I could possibly accept that however when it involves removing some of my my teeth you would have thought they would agree. If you go to a doctor they don't quibble not like these cowboys. I spent a fortune with them what a waste of money. Their work was so bad that when I went on holiday for two weeks I ended up in a French dentist twice with the dentists commenting on how bad the workmanship was on my teeth, this was two separate dentists. Don't go there.
