Bryant became the property manager for the unit I was renting around July or August 2025. When he took over, I provided him with all of the information and communications I had exchanged with the previous property manager. He was fully aware that the ceiling in my unit had been damaged and remained unrepaired since February 2025.
The owner of the unit lives outside of the country and was scheduled to visit in November 2025. It was not until then that Bryant informed her about the ceiling issue. I later learned that the previous property manager may not have informed her either. However, I have text messages and emails showing that I repeatedly notified both the previous property manager and Bryant about the damaged ceiling.
When the owner visited in November 2025, she was under the impression that I had never reported the issue. I showed her the text messages and emails proving otherwise. As we compared information, it became clear there had been a breakdown in communication on the management side. Following that conversation, the owner and I agreed that I would pay rent directly to her and communicate with her moving forward rather than through Bryant. I have messages confirming this arrangement.
After the owner returned home, she became proactive in ensuring the ceiling was repaired. Bryant occasionally reached out to me regarding the ceiling and related matters, but I did not respond because the owner had specifically instructed me to communicate directly with her. In one of the screenshots, Bryant references me ignoring him. While that is true, I was following the owner's direction and had no reason to continue communicating through him. Given those circumstances, his decision to hold that against me felt unprofessional.
Fast forward to May 2026. The owner informed me that Bryant would conduct the move-out walkthrough on her behalf since she was out of the country. We completed the walkthrough without issue. Bryant then advised me that my security deposit refund would be mailed. I asked whether it could be sent electronically since it would be faster and still provide a clear paper trail. He declined and stated that was not their process.
Bryant told me the check was mailed on May 22, 2026. Because of the holiday weekend, I waited several days, expecting it to arrive by the following Thursday. When it did not arrive, I texted him on Friday to let him know I still had not received it. He told me to give it until Monday or Tuesday. When I followed up on Monday, I received no response. I also contacted the owner, who said she had reached out to him.
After following up again on Tuesday, Bryant responded with a message referencing the fact that I had ignored him in the past and stating that he was with a client. Rather than continue the conversation, I sent the screenshot to the owner and explained that I still had not received the check. I suggested placing a stop payment on the check and issuing a replacement.
Bryant then informed the owner that placing a stop payment on the check would cost $30 and that I would be responsible for paying that fee. I did not understand why I would be expected to pay for a problem that was not caused by me.
Later that same day, it was discovered that the check had been returned to him due to insufficient postage. At that point, the delay was clearly not the result of anything I had done. Despite this, Bryant's response was that patience goes a long way and that there was no need for an apology.
I found that comment particularly frustrating considering I lived with an open and damaged ceiling from February 2025 until February 2026 while waiting for the issue to be addressed. After dealing with a year-long repair delay, being lectured about patience felt inappropriate and dismissive.
Throughout my interactions with Bryant, I found him to be unprofessional, condescending, and unwilling to take accountability for mistakes. Rather than addressing legitimate concerns, he often appeared more focused on deflecting responsibility. Based on my experience, his communication style was dismissive and unnecessarily antagonistic.
‼ To add to Bryant's reply, he did not know I was purchasing a home until today, when he chose to mention it in response to my Yelp review.
Regarding parking, there was only one issue during my tenancy. I reached out to Bryant for guidance and never received a response.
As for the smoking, it stopped immediately, and I rarely smoke. I even informed both the previous management & Bryant that the residents below me were smoking because I didn't want to be blamed. The screenshots speak for themselves. In the inspection report after I moved there was no mention of smoke damage. Contractors that fixed the kitchen never mentioned smoke damage. Also how can you list so fast if there's smoke damage?
The previous management & owner were always helpful and easy to work with. I'll let the screenshots speak to the level of professionalism shown here. read more
