Well, I guess the beginning would be good... i moved from San Francisco, California June of this year (2016) after getting our stuff somewhat moved in (as much as you can in a couple weeks anyhow) my husband and i set about establishing medical care. Now, down in SF we both had the same nurse practitioner, so we decided we'd go for one here at Coulee Medical, we chose Cheri Gregson (Butler). What a wonderful choice that turned out to be. I had battled an ear infection (fungal infection) for nearly 8 months down in SF - even went to an ENT (ear nose and throat) specialist - no help. Cheri Gregson (Butler) created a simple plan to tackle it and i have been pain free in that ear since. I look forward to personally saying thank you to her at my next visit and i know anything she tells me to do, i'm doing it, i just have that much trust and faith in her. She's fabulous and just a great professional all around. In other news; i had been diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes down in SF one needed surgery asap and the other wasn't quite there yet and i knew it made more sense to have my surgery up here because of the follow up visits (you have one the next day and then one a week later and then one a month later). I did my homework and decided on a particular facility over in Spokane but they required a referral to them and recommended the eye clinic right next to Coulee Medical. So, i go there (great office too btw!) and it turns out they were just starting to do cataract surgery right there at Coulee Medical - talk about timing!!! i couldn't make their first surgery day as my daughter was getting married, but i chose the next one. I wouldn't have to travel all the way to spokane after all - just a short 22 minute drive (i live near Leahy Junction) . And i had heard of Dr. Fillmore from my original searches for cataract surgeons i did before the move, i knew he was good. Of course this was cataract surgery though - to say i was nervous is probably the understatement of the century! Let me tell you, if/when i need the other eye done I absolutely will not hesitate at all. I'll be booking that surgery asap! Dr. Fillmore knows his stuff, he's an excellent doctor that comes with a pretty impressive resume (i admit i'd travel anywhere i had to to have him do my surgery though i do love the staff at Coulee medical and they especially were fantastic to me). Surgery was a breeze (everything to do with Dr. Fillmore and his team was great, for more info there see my upcoming post on Eye Consultants of Spokane). The staff at Coulee Medical is phenomenal - from the moment you step in they are super friendly and helpful. All the nurses were terrific. And a follow up call from the staff, to see how you're doing a week later is just something unheard where i come from. Besides the fact that we love where we live (we'd been looking forward to this move for quite some time) having a medical facility like Coulee Medical has just been one of those things that made us truly appreciate being able to make the move here. Phenomenal. And from where i come from...that says a LOT. TL:DR - go here, you won't regret it, i promise!

This tooth was discovered about 8 weeks ago and I was referred to CW oral. What a pleasant experience from this office. The consultation was thorough; the staff wonderful; Dr. Johnson awesome, I had to have a bone graft as well after the extraction and it went very well. My recovery is going well, too. Just using Ibuprofin and icing. I high recommend this office if any type of oral surgery is recommended.

Chelan is very fortunate to have a wonderful assisted living facility like Heritage Heights in our…read morecommunity. Care centers for our elderly is very limited. But Amanda's team is wonderful. COVID-19 has really put the pressure on them, but they have weathered it wonderfully. One of the hardest things is to balance physical safety with mental health. They have worked out schemes that allow family to visit their residents while still keeping them as safe as is possible. The residents have significant power in how the facility operates. There are regular meetings between staff and the resident board (don't recall what the group is called). And the meals are delicious!

Misleading (if not outright bait-and-switch) pricing (and zero communication)!…read more Been coming to Lake Chelan for spring break for over a decade, and this year with a focus on health, was excited to try True Fitness as they advertise drop-in options. Instead, got a frustrating mix of being ignored, wasting time, and being quoted a higher price than what's clearly posted on their own signage. I called a month in advance and left a voicemail (but never a response). Once in town, stopped by Friday at 2 PM. No staff on site, but there's a sign telling you to call or text. Did, and then stood there waiting for over 20 minutes with no response. Eventually left, only to get a reply 45 minutes later saying someone would be there from 4-8 PM. Came back at 4:30 PM. Staff there (win), but went downhill fast... After filling out release waiver, quoted over $43 for a weekly pass. The sign taped to the inside window of the gym facing the outside clearly states $38.95 (with tax). No disclaimer, no "subject to change", just a different, lower price posted right in front of potential customers. When I asked about it, the response was basically a shrug: "prices change. " No apology. No explanation. No effort to honor the posted price. Just "I'll try to tell the owner." That's not a small oversight, that's misleading (at best). You don't get to advertise one price and charge another without expecting customers to question your integrity. To recap, while the pricing was the nail in the coffin, there are multiple issues at play: * Ignored voicemail a month in advance * No response while we were standing outside trying to get in * No clear staffed hours posted * Incorrect pricing displayed with zero accountability These are basic operational standards, and they're all being missed. For the owner, this is fixable, but only if taken seriously: * Fix or remove incorrect pricing immediately * Honor posted prices when you're wrong * Set clear expectations for response times * Post actual staffed hours * Train staff to handle issues with accountability, not indifference The equipment looked solid, which honestly makes this more frustrating. The problem isn't the gym but rather it's how it's being run. If you're a local, maybe you tolerate this. But if you're visiting and expecting basic professionalism and transparency, this place is not delivering. It's not about a few dollars, it's about trust. And right now, that's exactly what's lacking!

So, i just moved here from San Francisco, Ca. I knew that upon getting up here i needed to go…read moredirectly to an eye doctor and get my cataracts removed. I called the hospital (eye care center i had chosen while still in San Francisco) in Spokane for a recommendation and this was the eye doctor they recommended. So, i made an appointment and was super pleased with the office. Peggy (i think i got her name right) was awesome and made sure stuff went out to my insurance and would be covered, except for my co-pay which she sent a bill for (i expected one but since this insurance is new to me, i wasn't sure what that would be). I saw Dr. Schmidt, who was wonderful and explained that i would not have to go all the way to Spokane for my surgery - we could do it right here in Grand Coulee (having grown up in a small town and being from a large city i was not expecting that and am just thrilled to have my surgery so close to me). Dr. Schmidt was able to see far more of my eye than my doctor in SF had been able to, was able to grade my cataracts more thoroughly/accurately and was able to explain it all to me in a way that put me at ease. I'd go here for all eye care period. My husband who wears glasses will be going here as well. And honestly, it's places like this that make me grateful i moved here (ok well the peace and quiet up here does that too but amazing health and eye care makes for an awesome perk!).
