We visit the store regularly. Inventory is less extensive than B&Q, naturally, but friendly proprietor has a wealth of knowledge in DIY and is keen to share his wisdom. read more

From coasters to place mats to stunning cushions and mugs, she's single-handedly turned the ordinary home commodities into works of art. If you're looking to dress your table up for the perfect dinner party, or for some designer wrapping paper and cards cheaper than Paperchase, look no further. Check out the website too, beautifully designed and I guarantee will have you running down there as soon as you can.

This place is full of home and kitchen decoration things. Picture frames, pots and pans, kitchen towels, clocks, monocles, velocipedes. It's decent stuff. No Octopus, but alright just the same. I'd definitely go here for some good kitchen basics if my apartment was feeling a bit bare. Fortunately my apartment likes to wear its clothing - wool sweaters and long johns and jeans to be exact. There's also some things here which would work well as gifts. Anyone seen those chicken nuggets? Anyone? I've got to go find them.

For those of you who don't know this is a company that makes adorable tat that appeals to teenage girls and ridiculous women like me who insist of super cute nonsense in their homes. These guys only sell wholesale and I have never seen a collection like this in a shop. We are talking appliqued pirate bunting and hand painted Russian Doll photo pegs, white bird cages with stuck on flowers and butterflies. If you are looking for a new baby gift they have brilliant kiddies room decoration stuff, and as for stocking fillers, well this place is ideal. Nothing is more than £20 and some start from as little as £2.95 so you can really go nuts if you wanted to. As I have mentioned before I have happy places in London, this is one of them. I hate to Yelp this but I will and I am sharing this happiness with you.

What you will see through the generous floor to ceiling windows are the rugs themselves, hung on walls and draped across floors and, at the end of the room, the shopkeep herself. Seated in the far corner working away at her Apple laptop she's a kindly lady with an obvious commitment to her work. The Helen Yardley Gallery is an odd amalgam of Clerkenwell traits, and one of London's very few artisanal rug gallery spaces. As such it is ultimately a commercial venture with a high art spin, saluting a level of craftsmanship and a general appreciation for a once dominant and now oft-overlooked form.

You can find everything you need for a present (or yourself) from baby clothes to books, jewellery, sleepwear or furniture! I usually like to wander inside the shops, looking at the displays and every now and them, indulging myself with a guilty pleasure, so when I visited this branch with my family, I was expecting more of the same: lovely things and attentive customer service. The thing with this one Oliver Bonas in particular is the customer service. When I have visited some of the other shops, everyone seems happy to help, but not here! There were 3 members of staff in sight, two chatting behind the till in another language and one running around counting the displays. No greetings, no acknowledge of us or the other customer, who seemed very interested in the jewellery cabinet and was trying to gain their attention. We didn't really need anything, we were merely browsing, killing time, but we left very disappointed with the staff. A simple hello would have been nice!
