This is a fantastic street and farmers' market! Note: I'm giving it 5 stars for the Saturday market and produce - I'm not so keen on the rest of the market/the cheap, Made in China shit that you find at daily street markets all over Europe (and the world?)
You can find some amazing produce for SUPER CHEAP at this market, grown locally in Austria or nearby (the country is always specified). Most vendors will give you a plastic bag so you can choose your own produce, and if they won't, you should choose a different vendor for the same item. (I like to choose my own produce.)
On Saturdays, this is a great alternative to the Naschmarkt. The Naschmarkt, while worth seeing in Vienna, can be super overwhelming (there's a flea market on Saturday mornings and it's completely packed with people). The Brunnenmarkt, in contrast, is not touristy at all (you'll be very hard-pressed to find a single tourist), and the prices for produce are much better. There are also a few places to get a snack or coffee or kebab, although not nearly as many delis/eateries as at the Naschmarkt. Do note that THIS is the place to get a kebab in Vienna - the real deal, and the tastiest at that. read more
