    Italian Hoagie
    Tony B.

Brunish Grocery has been around since 1937, they are known for their sausage, but the hoagies are amazing! Met the owner and he was super nice, made me an Italian hoagie that was fantastic; it was super fresh and came on Corropolese roll with ham, Genoa, capicola, and provolone. The store, itself, has seen better days, but the history, service and food are awesome!

Stopped by tonight to grab a few hoagies for dinner. The people running the place were super nice, and quick to take my order. Ceilings are only 6 foot tall, so watch your head...I'm 5'11" and could touch the ceiling if I went on my tip toes. Not the cleanest of places, but assumed (i.e., hoped) they kept the food prep area clean. The hoagies were hefty in size and weight. The rolls were good. The meats and veggies were all fresh sliced. For an Italian hoagie, I would have preferred some more Italian meats. Seemed mostly ham with a small layer of salami. They forgot the salami on my daughter's hoagie, so she essentially had a ham sandwich. Prices seemed in line with what you'd pay for a real hoagie. You could get 2 classic Italian hoagies from Wawa for the price of one of these. I had high hopes, so maybe that's why I'm giving 3 stars. Definitely a 'good' hoagie, but not what I'd consider a 'great' Italian hoagie. I'd say it's worth a try to stop in and make your own judgement call on this place.

Hot "sausage" with mustard, onions, and relish.

I just tried Brunish for the first time. Overall it was very good. I ordered the spicy sausage with mustard, onions, and relish. It was very tasty but I would not call it sausage. It tasted more like a quality hot dog. I also ordered an Italian hoagie. However, I would not call it "Italian" since it had no salami, capicola, or any other Italian meats. It was a very good ham and provolone hoagie though. The roll was very fresh too. I would order it again if that is what I was craving. But if I am craving an Italian hoagie I would go elsewhere. Besides that, the service was great and the owners were very nice. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I would definitely go back again just with different expectations. CORRECTION: I found salami on the second half of my hoagie.

The hot sausage sandwich with the works is $2.75 and delicious! I need to try their hoagies, but I like the hot sausage Sammy too much.

You just have to go to understand why it's awesome. Old school grocery store that serves hotdogs and sandwiches. Like America used to be.

Tried the hot, it was OKayyy. My kids liked the atmosphere inside. I liked the old baseball cards for sale and the handmade signs.

Instead walk in the basement- almost hit your head on the ceiling/doorway - and eat a hot sausage.
