Due to my divorce process being very simple, there was no minor children and everything was mutually agreed between myself and ex husband. I was very clear in my consultation I did not want to spend a lot of money, I actually had my ex husband go in and sign, pick up his paperwork to avoid extra cost. I only went to the office 3 times, and seen her for 10 minutes in court. I recently received an additional bill for an extra $270.00, one of the charges on the bill was $25.00 for 2 questions a 2 minute phone conversation with the office staff.. Today I called the office to pay the $270.00 and was questioning the additional fees, the office staff tells me I have an additional bill for $270.00.. We still have a ways to go but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm a father in another state with a daughter in Ypsi. Ms. Novar really has been working hard so I can see my daughter first Skype than visits. I can only speak on my experience but if you have been getting shafted by foc recommendations and you know you deserve more. Start putting some cash aside and hire Ms. Novar. It's worth the money, and honestly she is less expensive than alot of the other lawyers I called around to. Plus she seemed more receptive to me. She will school you on what you need to do vs what you have been doing. She is very patient (I'm sure I pushed her buttons being demanding ) and will guide you if you are willing to listen. If you do not do your research and just want to settle Mr. James is also great choice. I made the mistake of dealing with Mr. James before we found a good lawyer. Some bozo actually recommended us to him. It was beyond terrible, this gentlemen (using the term loosely) is the worst lawyer in Michigan.. perhaps in the United States. Mr. James proves that anyone who can waste away many years and money can become a lawyer. Ironically several years later we went to court against the same ex family in laws with similar issues. Honestly I was pretty nervous at first. I was overjoyed and relieved when I found upon entering the court house that Mr. James was representing the clients. It would have made a terrific youtube video. I found that we didn't even need a lawyer for the hearing (sadly we paid for one) that day. With NO Law degree we managed to ring circles around his questions and at one point even confused him and made his client look even more foolish. It was great. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!
