On November 20th: The 1 Star is because most of the employees were nice. We came here thinking is was Brown Chiropractic (where we had a coupon for) and we thought we were in the wrong place because their name is now Optimal Health Integrated Medical - already off to a questionable start. I came in, with my husband, because I had a coupon for $27 for a full exam and consult, digital x-rays, hydro jet massage and chiropractic adjustment. We made our appointments and received a text message confirming our appointments. Then for the next 4 days (including the day of our appointment) we received text messages reminding us of our appointment. My husband ended up getting phone calls in addition to text messages. I thought it was a little excessive getting notified that many times about an appointment, especially since those appointment reminders also came in on Sunday and an hour before our appointment. We go in and the paperwork they want you to fill out seems a little much and personal for a chiropractor. ALL your paperwork is reviewed multiple times around other people - so hopefully you don't care about keeping your medical information private. Before anything happens we have to pay our $27 before we even have anything done to us - why are we paying before even being seen? We then go into a room where someone (not sure what their job title is but we assumed he was the chiropractor but later learned how wrong we were) asks us some questions and does some "tests" where he essentially just tells us we are tight and tender. Then we get some x-rays done, where it was a little uncomfortable being talked to about politics because I moved here from another state. We then view the x-rays and discuss a treatment plan that seemed a little much - who has time to come in 3 times a week for a minimum of 8 weeks. Then we have someone come in to discuss the plan and payment method, when we are still deciding if we should continue or not, and made it all about how we could save a whopping $160 if we pay $800 in full right now. Then we get told we have to do more x-rays, why couldn't all the x-rays be done at once? Then we meet the person who will be doing stretches with us, but no stretching today. After that we meet the medical side where we will be getting a shot of lidocaine - when neither one of us wanted a shot of anything. I am just confused as to why they want to inject us with a local anesthetic. They also tell us they will give us a tens machine on our second or third visit - why do we need that when we were told our x-rays don't show too many issues? Then we get moved to the hydro jet massage which was just you laying on a table with a roller moving under you across your back for 10 minutes. Finally we see the chiropractor. He does some adjustments on our lower back, which really just seemed like he was finding our pelvic bone rather than adjusting. He "releases" some tension from our upper back and then turns us over and cracks our neck and calls us good - so no actual adjustment. When we were checking out we were asked if we wanted to come back tomorrow - who can plan to come back multiple times, including the following day. We told them we would give them a call and then another person asked us and we had a back and forth for a few minutes with him insisting we schedule our appointments now rather than letting us call them to make one. He kept demanding we make appointments so we can get in a couple of times before Thanksgiving - which is Thursday and we came in on Monday. Finally after being there for 2 1/2 hours we were free feeling 100% NOT adjusted. Overall most of the people were nice, minus the one guy who kept hassling us about payments and scheduling. We wanted to be adjusted and it seems we did everything but get adjusted. Such a scam, forcing us to fill out all this useless paperwork, go to all these different "stations" and multiple x-rays just to not get an actual adjustment. I checked out their Facebook. It is interesting that their "Brown Chiropractic - Knoxville" page has recent posts while their "Optimal Health Integrated Medical" page has the Brown Chiropractic name in their profile picture yet has not been posted on since February of 2023 - yet this is their current name. Can you please choose one name and stick with it so you don't confuse people. On December 12th: I received a bill from my insurance company. This horrible practice billed both my husband and me different amounts and charged our insurance company an outrageous amount for a visit that didn't even do anything. Not only do they scam you but they scam your insurance company out of money as well, for no treatment. This entire company needs to be shut down. They also charged me for two doctors I never even saw or were introduced to. One of the "doctors" isn't even on any of their websites. Incessant texts and calls. Fraudulent insurance charges. Unnecessary treatments. This place is every bit of a scam. Went in for a basic adjustment when first moving to Knoxville. They tried to have me schedule a visit every day for the following two weeks. I contacted my family chiropractor who told me to never go back there and to consider taking legal action against them. I told Brown Chiropractic to just leave me alone and we'd call it even. That was over a year ago. They still call me at least a couple times a week. Today alone they contacted me three times. After contacting me for over a year, I finally decided to give them a chance and made an appointment. Once we got there we checked in and filled out the necessary paperwork then proceeded to wait for an hour before deciding to leave. They called us constantly to solicit our business and then made us wait what would have been over an hour to been seen. My time is more valuable to me than that. A couple of months back I started having some severe lower back pain. I scheduled a free consultation with Brown. They took several X-rays of my back and had a Doctor talk to me about the results. He explained what was causing the issue, and the recommended treatment. The financial department was willing to work with me to make sure that treatment was affordable. Do not be scammed into getting a "free adjustment and hydromassage." I was given a coupon after attending The Pink Bride show in Knoxville. Then THEY contacted ME to offer the "free" services. I went in and not only did I not receive a hydro massage by they suggested that I get some kind of injections into my back every day for the next two weeks. I politely declined and then was billed almost a thousand dollars for the "free" services because my insurance is out of network. The real deal. I've had back issues the last 15 yrs and went to Brown for about a month in 2017. Huge difference and the staff was amazing. Had a consultation and they told me up front what I'd have to pay so there were no surprises. Was so happy that I got my husband to go for his knee. I had the worst experience yesterday with Browns Chiropractic in Alcoa. I told them from the initial text due to high risk family members in my home that safety was a deal breaker. I couldn't get in with my regular chiropractor and needed an adjustment so I took up a new offer at Browns. I was texted back and set up an appt. I specifically asked about Covid safety measures and was told all protocals were being followed.(Sanitizer at the door) Upon entry the front desk staff did not have on a mask. I asked and she put one on stating she usually wore one. I was moved back into a room and the intake employee wore a mask. I again told him my situation and belief on masks and high risk members. I was moved to xray and the tech wore a mask. Then Dr Brown came in. He said " You know clients do not have masks on back there? I told him that I was promised they were. He then said" Do you have the answers for Covid. I don't. We can't just shut everything down." I said no but we can protect ourselves and try to prevent it I refused to sign a treatment plan. Over the past 3-4 years I've seen many doctors and specialists who have attempted to help me manage pain in my back, neck, and knees from injuries over the years. A few have been able to provide small amounts of relief but nothing that has lasted long at all. I've been going to Brown Chiropractic for about 5 weeks for my chronic back, neck, and knee pain and so far we've been doing physical therapy and focusing on my knees with HLA injections to replace lost synovial fluid. This has helped tremendously with day to day activity and while the pain isn't completely gone it is much more manageable. The staff here a very friendly and everyone, not just the doctors, seem to be well versed in knowledge about the various ailments and issues that can be treated here. i was at the mall and these reps came up to me and handed me a coupon for a free evaluation, digital scans, and a hydro bed massage. i kindly accepted and set up an appointment. I had to drive an hour to go to the appointment and i took my mother with me since they said she would get all the same services as me. we spend an hour and a half at this place and then they tried to rush us out the door with out giving us what was promised. They also charged my insurance for the FREE digital scans. Then they wanted me to drive all the way back to them the following day so they could tell us what they found in the scans.
