I have never been treated so badly by a professional. People typically see bankruptcy attorneys at a very bad time in their lives. There is stress, fear, embarrassment. Medical bills have overcome my family and we were looking to do a repayment plan. I've never been in this situation before but certainly didn't expect to be yelled at or treated in a condescending way by a person I was going to pay for a service with. I do not recommend anyone go there. No one deserves treated this way. The attorney was rude, condescending, obnoxious, judgemental. Rather than address questions I asked like professional she mocked me for what I told her I'd heard about the process rather than say "no, that's not true" or "yes, that is true." Just a horrible experience at a time that is already very upsetting and stressful. read more

I had been a single mother of two for quite a few years and had gotten myself behind on bills and into credit card debt pretty deep. My wages at work were getting garnished and I was about lose the roof over my children's and I`s heads. I would give 0 stars if I could. This woman lacks ethics, professional behavior, and basic courtesy. All she does is belittle you, talk down to you with a condescending attitude. We came overly prepared and brought everything with us, and told us "no you didn't" when I told her stuff we had already done. She would say "You didn't tell them that" when I would tell her stuff that I have said. I even offered to play recorded conversations to her, that I made, of conversations with one of our creditors. One of our creditors even asked us to file bk, and I have it recorded and when I wanted to play it for her she said "no they didn't." This he/she woman,man I don't know what she is really (whiskers and all longer then my dogs), has such a cocky smart ass attitude, and insistence that she was the "only bk attorney who knows what they are doing and talking about and everyone else is simply morons" that we stupidly took her advice. And now, our situation has worsened. And I didn't know it could get any worse. We have literally had every damn thing go wrong in our life this past 14 months, that we are beyond our breaking point. So we don't need yet another person giving us any bs and making things even more difficult. Its no wonder we see murder/suicide in the news so frequently. And this was our initial consult a few weeks ago. Now that sh!t hit the fan today, I called her, and confronted her about her bogus "licensed to practice" legal advice, and to take accountability and responsibility for telling us this crap, and she says "Well that was your decision". Yes, you're right it was, but it was based on YOUR legal advice of which you are a licensed professional who is bound to follow basic ethics. That is why only licensed attorneys can practice law, so that they do not give bad legal advice. When I confronted her on stuff she told us to do, or what she said, she said "I never said that' "I never told you that" etc. I will be going all the way to the bar association with this one. Bottom line, go else where. This Sue woman is driving her own practice in the ground with her lack of professional customer service, and ill manners. stay far far away from them. they told me a chapter 13 was going to cost $450.00 and that was it. they ended up putting in the chapter 13 paperwork an additional $3500.00 as payment for their services. the lack of communication is appauling as well as the professionalism on the phone as well as through e-mail. they do have several different offices around the washington area. please do yourself a favor and stay far away from this firm. if you need to do a chapter 13 or chapter 7 the attorneys should not have hidden fees and will tell you straight up how much it will cost, and because it is not a secured debt they require payment up front. talk to several attorneys before making your choice. thank you. read more

My mother filed for chapter 7 with Brown & Seelye. I went with her to meet with Brown & Seelye due to the fact that my name was attached to some of her debt ie: Mortgages and lines of credit. However, I lived in the home not my mother and I had paid every payment on time and of course wanted to keep the home and make sure that the reaffirmation was done on the home loans and the specific credit lines were not included in this bankruptcy (this was whole purpose of me attending the meeting prior to my mother filing for bankruptcy). Although, the filing with the court stated that the reaffirmations were to be done and line of credit were not to be included the reaffirmation was never sent or completed with the banks and are showing as a negative remark on my credit. I am someone who has always had good credit never late on any payments EVER. I called their office several times and was told that it is the banks responsibility to send the reaffirmation paper work and not theirs and that no court is going to reopen the case to just do a reaffirmation and of course the bank is saying it was their responsibility. I do remember my mother paying Brown & Seelye for the services how is this now in my lap? Considering I, nor my mother are not bankruptcy attorneys how would we know to catch something that bankruptcy attorneys are fully aware of. Seems to me they are going through the motions and not the details. I have been very negatively affected and disappointed by the business they conducted and will filing a complaint with the bar. read more
