So happy I walked around to see Brow Threading 17! I was holding out to get my eyebrows done an hour and a half away. Convenient hours from 11-5 and normal pricing for threading. The lady was nice and listened to my request of cleaning up my brows and not thinning them out. I will be coming back! read more

I love this place!! It was very convenient hours and the owner is so quick! I have been going for over a year now to get my brows threaded and have never had a bad experience. The owner is super kind, very quick, and the service way less painful than other places I've been to. Highly highly recommend coming to get your brows done!! read more

I waited the entire summer and just plucked my eyebrows on my own cause nobody does it like her. The only person I trust with my eyebrows... she does such a good job I feel so pretty read more

I'm going to preface this review with being honest in the fact that I was hesitant to go here to get my eyebrows threaded. I have seen mixed reviews and finally decided to go there today, for the first time since I always get my eyebrows threaded in my hometown. I just asked to keep my eyebrows thick, and get some shape to them. I am extremely happy with the way they turned out and would recommend this place for your routine eyebrow threading!!! read more

I'm always scared to try new brow place but this place is amazing. The owner is so sweet and always make sure that you're satisfied. This is the only place I go to get my brows done in State College. read more

The single worst threading job I have ever received in my life. I told her not to reshape at all and only clean up. She chopped off a good quarter of my eyebrow. Terrible job do not recommend in the slightest. read more

Like the other reviews, they thinned my eyebrows and reshaped it despite me asking for a cleaning only. I've given them a couple of chances, but they always seem to thin my eyebrows. Not only that, but one person called my eyebrows "too thick" and insulted me for growing them out since the last time they threaded them. There's a couple of other places in town that does eyebrow threading. I would recommend trying those places out, even though those salons charge more. read more

I called yesterday for an apt for 2 persons and was told no apt was necessary - they are open and are slow due to college kids being off site. We drive over, park in the garage and walk to the place and they are closed!!!!! WTF? read more

the past two times I've gone during their posted "open hours" and both times they've been closed. It's impossible to call ahead and ask if they'll actually be there because their number is disconnected. Don't waste your time. read more

Came here to get slits in my eyebrows and had the most amazing experience. Shaping my eyebrows and getting the slits done took less than 10 minutes! And only $15! This was the first time my eyebrows have been touched since February so I was hesitant but I definitely made the right choice coming here and trusting them with my eyebrows. read more

Any time I try a new brow, nail, or hair place it's scary because you don't know what to expect! Well I was pleasantly surprised when I was finished getting my eyebrows threaded at Brow Threading 17! She did such an amazing job, and she shaped my brows perfectly! It's safe to say I found my new brow place in State College. read more

Always quick and perfect. Definitely recommend in State College. Great location as well

I went and had a picture of what my eyebrows look like when they get done at home. I specifically said to only clean up the surrounding areas and to leave the brows thick. The lady, proceeded to tell me that "this was her job" and that she would do it exactly how I asked. This however was not the case. When I got up from the chair I noticed my brows were 2 times thinner than what they usually are, and my shape was changed. I certainly do not recommend this. read more

I had heard from a friend who's friend had gotten lash extensions here for $25, and said they were amazing. I was a little skeptical because they are normally $200. However, I've gotten them done before several times through Groupon deals in NYC that charged me $50-60 and they were gorgeous so I decided why not try this place out. It was the day before my commencement ceremony and was able to walk in without an appointment. Oh. My. LORDDDDDDDD. Mistake of my life smfh. I should've just bought some high quality lashes and done them myself at home. They use clusters (I think it was those plastic $3 Ardell lashes) which you should not because they might be too heavy to put on just one individual natural lash and cause your natural lashes to fall out from the stress of their weight. They also only have one length, which makes the lashes look extremely fake--not in a nice fake way, but a 'I bought 25¢ fake lashes and look like a chola' way. I've always had 3 different lengths/sizes used and multiple lengths to choose from. They should go from short to long from the inner eye outwards for a natural effect. Who's lashes are the same length the whole span of their eye?? But I asked if they had a shorter length and they did have like half a package left so I told the lady to put those on my innermost lashes. While she was applying them, I noticed that the glue smelled absolutely atrocious and was probably hair glue or something. Then after she finished applying them, I thought she was just doing some finishing touches or idk, but she actually pulled out some scissors and clipped my extensions before I knew what she was doing. WHYYYYYY. WHY. Now I just had to let her clip the rest because it would look stupid otherwise. But now all my lashes looked blunt and obviously fake. Oh, and the cut job was ridiculous, I looked like I had a staircase effect going on cause it looked so uneven. I think she cut them because the lashes were way too long for my eyes but still.. have more options then. Oh, not to mention they were a whole centimeter away from the roots of my lashes, and as my bf told me; "they look like they're floating in front of your eyes". It's my fault for going through with it despite the obvious signs (only $25, and shitty clusters with only one length option, and kinda unsanitary equipment for working with your eyes), but still, don't even offer this service if it's gonna be trash. I highly doubt she's professionally trained or certified in extensions. I was in a rush since both my family and my boyfriend's families were arriving so I had to run home and didn't take a good look at my lashes. Once I went home and looked I died, I can clearly see the glue dried on the lashes and all the flaws I pointed out earlier in this review. I would never have tipped. It's now 2 days since I got them (got them on a Friday and now it's Sunday), I woke up and the end clusters fell out overnight. I didn't use mascara or any oil based makeup or remover so there should be no reason for that to happen. I'm sure their hair removal services are great, but I'd rather shell out big bucks than come back here for lashes. Oh I went back today, and I was told no refunds, only fixing them. And foh I'd pay her to stay away from my lashes so why would I want her to "fix" them for me when she screwed them up in the first place. The lady who did my lashes was very sweet but cannot do lashes for her life. read more

Terrible Terrible Terrible. Unfortunately the only threading place in State College and they're terrible. Unless you want two thin lines as eyebrows don't go here.... worst place ever read more

Went in quick after class to get my brows done for the first time in months. I've been plucking them myself but they're really thick and needed reshaped. The woman who did mine started right away and asked about my preference. She let me take breaks when my eyes started to water, she put soothing lotion on my brows, and trimmed everything. The whole process took maybe 15 mins and hurt a lot less than waxing. And for $10, total worth it and definitely going back again. read more

Brow Threading 17 - Threading Services Near Me - State College, Pennsylvania

DO NOT GO HERE. I know there's not many places to get your eyebrows done in State College, but Brow Threading 17 is not worth your time. Don't get me wrong, the lady is great at eyebrow threading and got me a good arch. However, as a business, it's THE WORST! The hours are insanely inconsistent, as the posted times are not when they are actually open. They also don't have a working phone number, so you can't even call in ahead to schedule an appointment or see if they are open. You have to walk all the way there and check for yourself, which is usually a waste of time because they end up being closed anyhow. The lady will turn you away time and time again in order to take lunch breaks and close early. My birthday was on a Friday, so I wanted to get my eyebrows done for my party. I went on Tuesday at 3pm, but they were closed, even though their hours say they are open 10am-8pm. I went on Thursday at 4pm, and they were closed again. On Friday, I went in at 9am, 11am, and 4pm, and they were still closed every time. I wasted all of this time on my literal birthday. I came 5 times in a span of 4 days, yet I ended up having to go home and tweeze my eyebrows myself. This business is simply NOT RELIABLE and is a nuisance. Recently, the same kind of situation happened. I came in on Wednesday at 5pm, and it was closed (lights off, locked), even though the sign said open and Wednesday hours are 10-8. I came in on Thursday at 3pm, but right as I was about to enter, my hand literally on the door handle, the lady taped a sign to the door saying "Lunch break, Come in 1 hour." I was literally seconds away from walking inside, but she just shook her head no at me and turned the lock. I politely left because I am understanding. I know everyone needs a break. However, in retrospect, I realized this interaction was insanely rude. I have a life of my own. My schedule does not revolve around Brow Threading 17, and I didn't have time to come back later that day. I came in again on Friday at 2pm and walked inside. Just as I was about to sit down in the chair, the lady told me "I'm about to go on my lunch break, come back in an hour." I should have explained my situation, but I decided to be polite and leave. Now, today I came in on Thursday at 6:20pm. Again, I walked in, was about to sit down, and she told me, "We close at 7, come next time." First off, the hours posted on the door say they close at 8pm. Second, it's not like I came in at 6:50pm. There was still a whole 40 minutes left before 7pm. I finally decided to explain my situation this time, saying that this was my FOURTH time coming here, just to try to get my eyebrows done. Yet, she STILL turned me away saying she doesn't have time. Now, I am furious, and rightfully so. Brow Threading 17 needs to do some serious business remodeling, not to mention a refresher on etiquette, because this is RIDICULOUS. A proper business would be open during their posted hours, have more than 1 person working at a time, not take spontaneous lunch breaks, and actually be considerate towards their paying customers. Undoubtedly, Brow Threading 17 has lost me, and many of my friends, as customers. This is honestly unfortunate for them, because I am a great tipper. It literally should not be this hard to get your eyebrows done. read more

This is a poorly run business. The posted hours are inaccurate and everytime I go, they say they are closed for an extended period of time. Whether it is a 2 hour "lunch break" or not it is unreasonable and at different times during the day. As for their service I wouldn't be able to tell you because they seem to always be closed. Very upset by this salon. read more

Fast, friendly, and excellent work!! I look forward to returning knowing I'll be greeted with kindness and leave with beautiful results!

Best place to get eyebrows threaded in State College! They do such a good job every time

This place did a very nice job with my eye brows! I love them! Go here my eyebrows look amazing!!!!

This is the only place I trust in state college to do my eyebrows. They are always even and look great every time I go. They've never disappointed, even helped fix my eyebrows when another place messed them up BAD read more

Wonderful service! I'm very picky about my eyebrows and this place met all of my expectations. The technician was very sweet and very gentle with the threading (and gave me breaks when she noticed I was tearing up). $10 for eyebrows and $15 for eyebrows and upper lip. Highly recommend! read more

I have been going here for several years. I enjoy the threading because of my sensitive skin, it won't rip off and leave a scab/scar. Although they always seem to look better afterwards, there is no true consistent shape. I always feel like I leave with one looking different from the other. read more

This is easily the best place to get your brows done in State! I've been coming to this location since my freshman year and I've nearly always been met with great service. The technician is very sweet and always asks if I need breaks in between in the event of discomfort/pain. She is very attentive to her client's needs. My brows come out amazing after each visit! They are never too thick or too thin. read more

Walked in for my first visit (not that you need to book especially over the summer) and the lady that did my eyebrows was nice and asked if I wanted to thin them out or just a regular cleaning. She was nice and friendly. Will definitely return. read more

They are literally the worst. I specifically told the lady to not make them too thin and she makes them way too thin. Then one of my eyebrows is lower than the other, one of them is arched and the other is curved so she really messed up. I even showed her a picture of what I wanted them to look like from a previous time I got them threaded. I do not recommend whatsoever because it's a bad experience. Definitely not worth $10. read more

Horrible! New staff don't know what they are doing. My eyebrows was bleeding and hurt too much. Never ever come back!

Wish I could give less than a 1 star rating, but even more annoying than that is how good everyone claims the place to be. If you're considered anything other than threading (or even basic customer service), this might help you decide whether or not you even want to step into the place. I first came in looking to ask about eyelash extensions. I have never gotten them before, and as a first-timer wanted to be more informed about the products as well as the procedure. When I walked in, the first younger lady seemed nice enough to let me know that the other older lady worked with the eyelash extensions. I waited for the older lady to finish threading her client's eyebrows and when she was done, she called me over to sit at the chair she was working at. I refused, thinking she might have mistaken me for a threading client. I explained to her that I wanted to know a little more about the eyelash extension service, and that I wanted to know of the process. She curtly replied with, "There is a process." I then proceeded to explain to her that I had never had eyelash extensions before so I wanted to understand what it was going to be like, and she responded with a loaded amount of attitude, saying that I was a "smart young modern woman" and that everyone wore eyelash extensions these days so I probably knew how they worked. At that point I had become extremely irritated but I decided not to mention it. I had never once stepped into the salon and this was my very first interaction with this entitled woman. I tried again to ask to see the lashes themselves as I considered for a minute that she was talking about applying false lashes rather than eyelash extensions, so I asked if the lashes were the kind you take off after a day or if they grew out with your natural lashes and fell off after a few weeks. The lady then responded to me in a similar fashion, with "no, none of the lashes grow obviously." At that point I had actually lost interest in trying to work with this woman who clearly thought talking to a customer was a waste of time, especially if I wasn't 'smart' enough to understand how a cosmetic procedure I have never gone through would work. Glad I had never stepped in there before, and I'm kind of glad I had this experience. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to step foot in that 'salon'. read more

EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. I told her I like them thick. I ended up with the thinnest eyebrows that are completely uneven. Never going back.

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded here since my freshman year back in 2014. However, last fall, two new staff members were added to the team. I got my eyebrows done October 2017 by one of the new staff people and it was awful. After inspecting my brows at home, I found my left eyebrow had an arch (my desired shape) and my right eyebrow was curved. It was clearly mismatched!! Additionally, under the right eyebrow there were strips of skin ripped off from the threading process which has never happened before here. I decided to give a second chance in the spring where I again was attended by the new staff. While the shape was fine, my eyebrows were thinner than before forcing me to fill in with pencil more than desired waiting for them to grow back. If these two staff members were not added, my review would have been 5 stars. They do not know what they are doing and I much prefer the owner and the other original staff member. With them I have never had any issues. read more

I'm giving two stars because the lady did a great job at threading my eyebrows. However, she failed miserably at doing my lash extensions. She used tons of glue, applied the lashes to my eyelid instead of my lash line. After a couple of days of being in excruciating pain I returned to Apple Blossom Mall in Winchester, Va.to explain to the person who was working at the time that my lashes were applied incorrectly and asked if she could remove them because my eyelids were swollen and and very sore. She took a look and told me I would have to wait until they began to fall off on their on (talk about poor customer service and unprofessionalism)...At this point I was pissed and so uncomfortable I went to Sally's and bought some eyelash adhesive remover and took the damn things off myself...what a waste of money and time. I should've followed my gut and went to my regulars at Seva in Fairfax. They never disappoint. read more

Dreadful - been in twice now to get brows threaded and tinted. Tinting seemed far too complex for the lady in the shop. She did not take her headphones out of ears to talk to me and when she understood what tinting was she offered to do them black or dark brown, which for my coloring is ridiculous. Ran out of the shop before I looked like a clown. read more

I'm pissed. I'm only giving one star because I have to. I went in because It had been a few months since I last had my brows done. The woman(I'm presuming she was the "older one"), first of all, was very quiet and I couldn't understand what she was saying at all. To be fair, my hearing isn't all that great and I can barely hear people at a normal volume. She then completely messed up my natural shape and made them too thin. They're even, sure, but THIN. This isn't the 20's but ok. My eyebrows are my favorite part of my face and I thought that there's no way someone could see the shape of someone's eyebrow, where it needed to be cleaned up, and completely give someone a new pair of eyebrows. She didn't ask me what I wanted at all, nor did she clean the skin before threading. I will NEVER be coming back here for anything, and I am telling you that if you value your natural eyebrow shape in any capacity, you will not give this business your money or trust them with your brows. If this is the "best place in State College" to get your eyebrows done, don't even bother. Wish me luck waiting for my eyebrows to grow back. read more
